Paris, Île-de-France, France cariverga... Looked out for aunt Noni's name scratched in the tower but no luck sorry...
Up early at 6.30am for the trip across Paris to my hostel for the next two nights... serves me right for booking the day before I arrive, nearly all accommodation was gone so couldn't stay at the same place all 3 nights!
Now for the touristy stuff... toured the Lourve nice and early.. first of the day to see Mona Lisa (the tiny wee thing) before powering thru the whole ...
... but what's so fun about it is that there is this MASSIVE church sitting on top of it - and a teeny tiny little village. Can't wait to show you the photos!! And the fifth and last day we did this other GREAT tour to three of the castles in the Loire Valley. The hardest thing about not travelling in a group is that you miss having conversations with people. But we were lucky enough to befriend this FUN Canadian couple on the Loire tour. Turns out that they'd lived in NZ for ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France aready... told her "Don't worry, Auntie, the metro monsters won't get you, they're only figments of your imagination." Eventually the car started to clear up and I saw the fingers loosen up, but I could easily see that the blood pressure was still high. But then we saw Barbes Rochecouart and we all ran for the door. We saw that we were all there anyway on the platform. We survived. Montmartre has a different vibe. It actually was a great place to just chill and be ...

Paris, France bigjoIt is our last day in Paris and there is so much to say. We have done and seen so much my brain is on overdrive. But all of the cool things we have done and all of the new knowledge i have acquired is surpassed by the simplest of things we have done, and most of these ironically are the cheapest things. For example, I have never seen a more beautiful sunset than the one we saw from a window on the top floor of the Louvre. As we were admiring ornate detail and excellent ...
Paris, France isaacfitz... Louis and window shopped before dinner. At the restaurant I sat next to a woman who was traveling alone. We chatted for a few minutes before she left - she must have arrived when the place opened. There were 3-4 other couples in the small dining room. For dinner, I started with their terrine de foie gras de canard, confiture de figue, duck pâté which was served with three slices of crusty bread and decorated with thinly sliced carrots. The fig purée ...
Paris, France mjpileggi... fairly easy time getting around in Paris. On Saturday we hiked up the hill to see the Sacré Caeur...the cathedral the overlooks Paris. We walked around and saw all the street artists and ate crepes and just took in the atmosphere of Paris. Then we walked down the mqin boulevard-i felt very out of place, i was still seaing the clothes I had on the night train-ie COMFY clothes-i definitely didnt fit in with the ...
Paris, France caro_in_nor... old brat who was too cool for everything this time around. Now with it being Easter weekend they of course had a special parade/performance going on all weekend and well it just so happened to be an Alice in Wonderland performance, woohoo. I got into the park just in time to catch the final performance of it, walked in to see Tweedle dee and Tweedle Dum dancing around, and the White Rabbit as well. After that Alice and the Mad Hatter and a bunch of other people dressed up but no main ...
Paris, France hollywood012... years. Thousands of people pass through O'Hare every minute - and have I ever seen a familiar face? Someone I read about in a trashy magazine? Michael Jordan? Oprah Winfrey? No. So,when I hear my name called out at this new café in Paris, when I am expecting another round of travel solitude - well, slap me silly and call me Nancy, but I cannot believe it. I join my old friends, Bonnie and Karen, and learn that Karen is now married to a Frenchman, has relatives in ...
