Vera and I were in Holland to celebrate New Years with my brother and nephew, and my sister and her family. As we were there a number of days I decided I would surprise Vera and take her to a destination on her bucket list: Paris.

We took the Thalys train (https://www.thalys.com/be/en/) from Amsterdam to Paris; a 3 hour high speed ride …

... It was bombed during the civil war so it was nice to experience some of the history that I have been learning about in class. We even went to a bomb shelter to experience what it was like for the people living there during that time.

I started teaching English conversation classes at an Elementary school here. It was a little difficult because the school's primary language is Euskera (the language of the Basque country) so English is the 3rd language for these children, ...

I love that the king and queen had 'separate wings'/buildings for themselves - it would've take ages to get messages from one building to the next and there was no internet!!

I can't not forget to mention the gardens - they are awesome! With the short remaining time we attempted to view only one area (there are so many and they are all ...

... hits and ended up making plans to meet several of his colleagues for dinner that evening. Things began to look up at this point. I finally got to take a "shower". The shower is actually a bath tub with a hand sprayer and the tub is so tiny I can't even stretch my legs out. Whatever, I'm in hot water and I can wash my hair, right? Well, half way through shaving my left leg, conditioner in my hair, I feel the hot water getting cold. Noooooo!!! I finished up quickly and stood up ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Libertel Auteuil Tour Eiffel Paris

    Easy access

    from

In response to some comments I felt it was necessary to communicate that there are numerous metro lines close by and you do not need to go around the loop - just get on the next stop (2 minutes extra) and you're at the end of the loop ready to travel on the excellent Paris metro system.

    A pleasant hotel

    from

My wife and I, together with two friends (all in our early 60's) visited this hotel in April 2006. We booked 4 nights with lastminute.com and travelled on Eurostar - it was only £944 (incl travel)for the four of us so we were really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. The rooms were clean and bright with a huge bed, the only thing lacking were a few more drawers or shelves to store clothes. Good shower but the floor always got wet. The reception staff were very helpful and all spoke good English. All requests were met within minutes and they did recommend some good resturants. Although located within a quiet residential area there were 4 metro stations within easy access (5 to 10 minutes easy walk. The hotel is about 20 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower and it was a very pleasant walk if you went along the island in the middle of the Seine. You do have to be careful where you walk in the local area around the hotel because there were a large number of dog walkers who did not always pick up their messages! The hotel bar was lively and bright although on the small side. There was no resturant but two or three tables were laid for food in the bar. It takes less than 30 minutes on the Metro to get to most areas and the trains run every 5 minutes, even on Sunday evening. Our only criticism of the hotel is that the breakfasts are expensive at 16 euros and are nothing special. We would recommend this hotel, our French is terrible but we had no problems here.

    Quiet relaxing weekend

    from

Stayed at the Auteuil Tour Eiffel for my birthday. I went with my husband and had a lovely time. The hotel is located in a lovely quiet area which is only about 20 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower. The rooms are spacious and the bed was huge and very comfortable. There was minimal noise and I got a good nights sleep there. The breakfast is expensive at 16 euros and we decided to walk up the road to a cafe/brasserie called Les Ondes on Rue de Versailles (opposite Radio France) They served a good continental breakfast for 6 Euros and we got a good view of the Eiffel Tower as we sat and ate. Metro stations are close. Get off at Eglise D'Auteuil if you are going to the hotel because there is a one way system on that part of the line. Leaving the hotel, take Mirabeau. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

    Far away

    from

I have stayed in this hotel with my wife and two kids and we found that the hotel was a little far from the central areas, especially if you are with children.

The Hotel was nice and clean but the price was not that good

    Nice Hotel

    from

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from 15.3.06 - 18.3.06. We booked a double/no smoking room, was allocated a twin/smoking room. Made complaint which was swiftly met and also gave us a free upgrade. Room clean/average for a 3* hotel. Resturant non-existant just tables laid in the bar - did not eat there. Staff very helpful. Hotel in good area even though 15/20 minute walk to Eiffel Tower. We found the best way to get around was to purchase 2-day pass on sightseeing bus 22 euro per person. Buses every 15 minutes at sightseeing stops excellent value for money. Taxi from Charles de Gulle airport 55 euro each way. Would stay there again if we got the right deal again. We got excellent deal with lastminute.com. booked it Monday flew out from Birmingham on Wednesday.

    Very good hotel

    from

I booked this hotel through a special offer with Lastminute for my wifes surprise birthday treat i rang the hotel before arriving to ensure my internet request of a low floor had been booked and was assured it was !!! upon arrival we were allocated a room on the 7th floor (very low !!) after i refused to look at the room the man on the desk agreed to move us to the 2nd floor (and unbeknown to us upgraded to a premium room at no extra cost ) the hotel was very clean quiet and warm ! every request through reception was met with no question ! the only complaint i could have was that the pillows were awful! its about a 7 minute walk over the river to the JAVEL RER station and took us about 20 minutes to walk to the eiffel tower ! i would definately rebook this hotel (don't bother with the breakfast walk past javel rer station for about 10minutes and take a left turn at the shops go to the local bakers (can't recall the name but breakfast is supurb)

    Dissapointed

    from

We recently stayed in this hotel for my husbands birthday. We have stayed in Paris many times, but normally on the other side of the River Seine, close to the Eiffel Tower. Having read the revues of this hotel we thought we'd like a change. The Eiffel Tower is within walking distance, but a dreary one at best.

    A peaceful corner of Paris

    from

I stayed at the Hotel Libertel Auteuil Tour Eiffel in Paris for two nights recently. I thought the hotel was very pleasant. The room was large and quiet and I feel recently renovated. The staff were friendly and helpful and, the buffet breakfast generous. It is located in an exclusive residential area and while there are only a few of the major tourist sights near the hotel (Palace of Tokyo and Radio France), the hotel is close to the Metro and a pleasant 20 minute walk along the Seine to the Tour Eiffel. There are good restaurants and shops nearby.

I have found that hotels in the high traffic areas of Paris can be a little noisy.

    Very nice

    from

This is a nice little hotel that is in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. It is a bit away from the city center but it's not so far away to keep one from enjoying Paris. There is a BNP ATM about 200 feet up the street and there is a phone booth there with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower.

It is indeed impossible to shower without wetting the floor but big deal, they have to clean it up! There is a little French grocery store just outside the front door.

The nearest Metro is about a 10 minute walk and it is a quick trip to the sights. We did walk back to the hotel from the Eiffel Tower, but it's about 45 minutes.

    I'd stay there again.

It's allright, but nothing to write home about

    from

Although this hotel is certainly not in a bad neighbourhood, it is not near anything. The neighbourhood is nice enough and did not seem sketchy at all, so if you're really into just strolling around or something, this may be the place for you. But to get to ANY of the major sights in Paris is a ridiculously long metro ride (minimum 25 minutes) because you have to get on a metro line that only runs in one direction. So you end up going even further out past the hotel and then looping back around to meet up with the line closer into the city. It's ridiculous and takes forever. The hotel rooms are okay, nothing special. It was impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom. Also, the summer was in full swing while we were there, with temperatures in the mid to upper 80's every day...and the hotel's pitiful air conditioning system would not cool the room down any further than 77 degrees. Unpleasant to say the least. I would never return to Paris---believe me folks, there are much better places in Europe than Paris, it is definitely the armpit of the continent---but if I had to return, I'd look for another hotel.
