This afternoon we took a train to Wafangdian. We went by taxi to the train station in Dalian, and joined the queue/fight for the ticket counter. Speaking of which, Chinese people don't know how to queue. Basically everyone thinks that they are a taxi driver, so has the automatic right to push their way to the front. Anyway tickets bought, we had time to grab some lunch - baozi at the bargain price of RMB 14 for the 2 of us.

Neither of Vistor's folks could speak English, nor the rest of his family, (of which there are ...

... that size, each with its own salespeson, sometimes more than 1. The best (well, at least the most entertaining) food and clothing markets are massive operations, each with booths (in buildings) or areas (on sidewalks or parking lots) that are just big enough for the merchandise and an attendant - usually an older person for food and a young person for clothes. Many fruit/vegetable vendors simply roll out a sheet and set the produce on the ground ...

    Xingang

A travel blog entry by kenped on Sep 30, 2007

Well, our cruise has come to a close. Xingang is the closest cruiseport to Beijing, so we will be leaving the ship tomorrow. The cruise has been everything we expected. Our accomodations have been excellent as usual with Princess. It has been very enjoyable. Would I do this cruise again? No. The Alaska part, not the rest, I would do. Alaska is wonderful and the ship is a great way for us non-outdoors people to ...
