      Large, Active Naxos

We took a short ferry ride (1 hour) from Paros to Naxos and we noticed right away that Naxos island has a totally different feel and pace from Paros. Naxos city (also called Chora) is the largest city on the island with 6,500 residents and has been inhabited since 1000 BC. Just as you enter the port a huge marble arch greets you that is the former temple of Apollo. We were picked up at the ferry and drove a short distance to our ...

Naxos Island is the largest island in the Cyclades Group.
It is the most fertile and self-sufficient and is known for its cheese. We bought some today called Graviera and it has a lovely flavour.

We walked out to Apollo Temple's Entrance which stands on the water at the entrance to Naxos.
The old city is on the hill behind the port ...

We arrived in Naxos on our comfortable and speedy aquajet and were thankfully met by an agent who showed us to our transfer and organised the information for our stay (things were looking up!).
Our hotel was on the outskirts of the main area and check in was simple before being shown to our room and getting a run-down of the area and the island.
With the plan of a very chilled out night in our heads we decided ...

... was about 7 of us who strolled home as the sun began to rise, pretty stoked that I had proved Chris wrong.

The following day was spent recovering on the beach before a boat tour in the arfternoon. The wind curtailed the tour but we did fit in some cliff jumping which was fun. After a meal at an Aussies style pub we headed to bed for an early night, relieved to have survived Ios.

The next stop was Paros which had more of a chilled feel to it. Once ...
