... factory, and are in the process of being restored. Artists started moving out there about 10 years ago, when rents were Y3 per month - quite likely without plumbing or heating! It was not a popular place to live as it is a few kms out from the city (only about 8-10k though).

There was evidently some big exhibition opening there on Nov 25, but not being able to read Chinese characters yet, we don't know what it was for.

... on a 603 towards our hostel. Get off bus, pick up laundry from Laundromat with amusing door bell that screams ‘NIHAO!’ (‘hello’ in Mandarin) purchase instant noodles, reach hostel, drink beer, the end.

I develop a low level of internet paranoia. It’s highly likely that I can’t access my emails etc just because the internet signal/quality isn’t very good in our hostel, but I can’t shake the feeling ...
