... distillery, started in 1812. Steve, our Guide, was VERY passionate about his bourbon. In the storage area, we shared the "Angels Chair". The aroma of thousands of barrels of Bourbon in various stages of aging is quite amazing. Then, the tasting, followed by the mandatory stop in the gift shop to purchase a bottle (and some Bourbon Balls). NIce day. Texas Roadhouse next door to hotel. All good.
A couple of things I forgot to mention in my last blog. They make a garland of 3000 red roses which is draped over the winner of the Derby. On the funnier side - I sent my jeans to be laundered and they came back today STARCHED. I'm not sure I'll be able to walk after squeezing myself into these very very, very stiff jeans. Should be interesting!! ...
... I came back burnt and touch of sun stroke. Pink is the colour for Oaks day. They have special drink for Oaks which is pink made up from Vodka and not sure what else. Mint Julip is the Derby drink - Bourbon and mint etc. I did try it but it was very strong yuk, yuk, yuk. The Lobster sandwich is very popular - this is lobster and Mayo on a sweet bun. Not bad.
