The holiday came to an end and although Manchester Airport had to close for one day while we were away due to snow, Kittila Airport stayed open the whole week even though we had had a metre of snow!! We boarded the plane in Kittila Airport and took off on an ice rink once again. Manchester, UK here we come!!

... not have doors fitted because the hotel is constantly sinking under the weight of the snow and if there was doors fitted the doors would not open and close due to the door frames moving. We were shown where we picked up our thermal sleeping bags and pillows from. There was a warm area in the permanent part of the hotel where we could go at any time for a cup of tea and a warm if it got too cold for us in the night. Before bed we frequented the very nice Ice Bar ...

Tea time arrived and today we had tea in the Restaurant Ammila. This was a very lovely traditional Finnish Restaurant. Apparently Ammila means 'Grandma's Place' in Finnish. It was very homely and cosy. We had the buffet tea, but I cannot help but think I would have enjoyed something off the menu more. However, the pudding was delicious, I had two helpings!! We stayed here after our tea for some more cocktails before ...
... Rudi settled into a nice relaxing gentle trot, until we reached the forest. Rudi then decided that she wanted to catch her mate up and so proceeded into a gallop. I went into a full panic mode and started shouting slow down boy, slow down boy, no need to rush, go at your own pace. This fell on deaf ears, probably because it was a female reindeer and I was shouting boy at her!! Eventually she caught her mate and all was calm. We settled back down and enjoyed ...
