The Hotel Hullu Poro (Crazy Reindeer) was a great base for our holiday in Levi, Finland. It was in the heart of Levi with everything we needed close at hand. It was very welcoming, warm and cozy. We stayed in one of the hotel's annexes. I think I would of preferred to have stayed in the main hotel as my hair froze every morning on the way to breakfast, but we loved our room nevertheless. The hotel had a good bar area and their hot chocolate was beautiful. They also had a well stocked shop from which we bought many souvenirs. We stayed half board at the hotel so had breakfast and an evening meal there most nights. The breakfast was a typical continental breakfast, but when they did bacon that was delicious. The evening buffet had a large selection of food to cater for everyone's taste. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend it to anybody.

Having departed Manchester Airport, UK at an ungodly hour, we finally landed safely at Kittila Airport, Finland after a 3 1/2 hour flight on Sunday the 25th January 2015 to a snowy wonderland. Remembering to put our watches forward 2 hours, the Lapland adventure had begun. The first thing that struck me when coming in to land was wow look at …

The holiday came to an end and although Manchester Airport had to close for one day while we were away due to snow, Kittila Airport stayed open the whole week even though we had had a metre of snow!! We boarded the plane in Kittila Airport and took off on an ice rink once again. Manchester, UK here we come!!

Next came the pudding…pancakes with blueberries, my favourite. The meal was finished off with a nice cup of tea or coffee. It was a great night with a great atmosphere, what a great way to end the holiday.

... right to use as a building material and it takes just 3 weeks to complete the whole hotel and village. This year the Snow Village has 28 rooms, an ice bar and restaurant, an ice chapel and an ice slide (for children only unfortunately). The Snow Hotel and Village will be open now until the middle of April when the hotel will melt back into the Lainio River, until next November.

Lapland - Second Husky Mushing Excursion

A travel blog entry by reisender on Mar 20, 2008

Lapland - Second Husky Mushing Excursion At my request, I received only four husky dogs on this trip, one of which was female. The female and one beautiful labrador like male were the front runners setting the pace, while two other larger dogs were at the back. All four dogs were very well behaved, always wagging their tales, and never fighting with each other or messing around. This 45 km trip, that was ...
