On 9/16 we went from Meiringen to Swartzwaldalp starting with the funicular to Reichenbach Falls where Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty met their doom. The funicular ride was only a few minutes but probably saved us 2 hours of steep uphill walking through some very strong winds. Another interesting thing we have noticed is that in Bavaria the Germans thought it absolutely barbaric to eat ...

... Kyria saw a tractor spraying water and cow manure around the paddocks on the way back on the bus so that might explain the smell. It was over all too soon – although I was tired of paddling! At the end, they let us jump in and float down a section before swimming into the shore – that was really fun! They had a guy standing there with a rope in case someone floated too far. I did it twice but could have happily done it about 10 times! As we were quite hot after all ...
