As it rained heavily overnight we thought we'd spend the day riding gondolas and trains. We headed up to Murren which is on the ridge to the west of us. Lauterbrunnen is in a narrow, deep valley with vertical cliffs on either side running roughly north/south. On the east side is Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, and the three mountains Eiger (ogre), Monche (Monk) and Jungfrau (young woman). So Murren overlooks the Lauterbrunnen valley ...

I’d taken advice from the folks on Tripadvisor who said the most scenic part was from G’wald to Kleine Scheidegg, so if we didn’t want to go the whole way to the top this was the best bit to do. We finally reached the 'Top of Europe' and the highest train station in Europe (4158m)! Sadly there was a massive snow storm and ...

Ate some Uncle Bens rice for tea as cheapest thing available (even still, 3EUR!) then chatted to a couple from America for ages who had lived in London for two years. They were very cool :) and Sam got his German praised by a Swiss man so is very pleased.Tomorrow on to Geneva! Not sure what to expect but should be beautiful. Maz ...
