... had Christmas witches all over the place as well. We have never seen witches in conjunction with Christmas. In Aachen there is a legend about "The Spell of the Witch Court." I states that in the heart of the Aachen Christmas Market placed a magic spell in the area between the Cathedral and the Town Hall and all who visit are influenced by the spell.

Ignoring the typical grey sky of a North German autumn we headed out to the spectacular town of Monschau which was established about 1000 years ago. On the way we passed through Holland and Belgium to reach this small German town, an experience that is incomprehensible to an Australian mindset.

Today we got up, had some pastry for breakfast and then caught the train.

We asked the train information desk, we were told the way to go and we followed. Little did we know at the time, it was the wrong station to change at. The lady got the wrong station and thus it took us 3.5 hours instead of 2 hours to get to a little town called Durbury.
