This morning we did the Rick Steves walking tour of Colmar. It is such a charming place. There is a fantastic and huge market place with fresh meats, fish, cheeses, sweets, and other "produits de Alsace". We enjoyed it. Then we decided to take the car to a couple more nearby villages, Eguisheim and Turckheim. Eguisheim was recently voted one of "the most beautiful villages in France". It was certainly charming! Round outer walls and an inner wall as well. All of the lanes ...

Oh what a day! We left our hotel in Strasbourg early and rolled our luggage to breakfast and then to the car rental office by the train station. I don't know how French people are thin since they only eat bread, croissants, butter, jam, more toast, OJ, and coffee. Where is the protein?? A cool day with on and off drizzle. Time to move on from the Meuse and
head towards the Vosges and the National Parks of Alsace Lorraine, north of
Mulhouse. Thought about stopping in a campsite in the Lorraine National Park
but decided to keep heading south, through Nancy and on to the Ballons des
Vosges National Park. Good choice. Ended up at Camping les Jonquilles, with ...

... an Amazon look-alike, although had never been there. As we headed back to the station, we didn't forget to give it a perfect ending with a coffee and a dessert at the café bar on the street as the day was getting colder. Getting back to Basel with content was definitely an achievement and sure it was a getaway, a much needed break to disconnect from the critical project hustle. Thanks to my colleague, Judith who made it up for me ...
