Traveling from Chamonix to Lake Annecy we went through some breathtaking views through the Alps. The city is quite gorgeous, a favorite Lakeside destination for French families in summer. After a walk through 'Little Venice' taking the sights of a town voted the most beautiful in France, i had a lovely lunch of the local (from Nice) Niçoise salad in a central location before taking the one hour boat trip on the lake. ... Lake which was great fun, and the kids took turns steering, so we went around in circles a bit! Excellent weather while here. One night of rain but sunny and warm during the day. Our campsite had an aqua park for the kids, with jacuzzi for the adults. Shame the water was still a bit cold, as the nights do get quite cold still. All had a great time though. Loads of parasailing to be seen off the mountains. Must have been an amazing experience.

... anyway. We end up after a couple of hours driving here. Shame really as Clive had mapped out a beautiful Alpine walk but we don't have the gear to go out in all weathers so we abandon the idea. Oh, and it's still thundery and raining here in Belley. France is officially under water. 10 days of trying very hard to get outside between storms is getting a bit dull!. Never mind, we now have a large ...
