... enticing, so I join him.
Daniel is a biologist studying stress. He looks to be in his late 50s. He has a neatly trimmed mustache, a clean apartment with a stunning view of the city, and a dog the size of a small bear. He offers me some Calvados which I'm happy to accept. We watch TV, and chat for a bit. I take a shower, and then I'm on my way.
"When do you sleep normally?" I ask as I leave
"I don't know" he shrugs
What a bizarre encounter.
... Danni! But at more than half the price of the train, we weren’t complaining...and we definitely weren’t when we got a look at Wilko’s thighs! So we arrived early to give us a chance to look around Toulon. We headed straight for the port for breakfast; croissants, bread, butter, jam, orange juice and hot chocolate, and then had a scout around the market before deciding to go out on one of the tourist boats (to make a change from the little trains ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France cft89... in devil ears, 1 batman, 1 Spiderman, a copule dudes in masks, 2 girls with just some random fake blood on their face, 3 poorly represented Village people, and a guy who we think was Peter Pan, but he had cardboard fairy wings so we're not sure. All in all, Halloween ended up being a pretty fun night, but we certainly missed being home for this day! Now we are off to the Rhone Valley for some great wine... in a CAR! Stay tuned.

Even I fluxuate in my thought about what’s goin on. Most importantly, I live day to day and try to plan out what’s needed for the immediate future (i.e. food and shelter). Some days I;m on top of the world. I feel healthy and strong, and I’m exactly where I want to be. Other days…well today was a day I felt like a ...
... Enjoyed the film (but enjoyed the post-cinema demi-fraise - beer with strawberry syrup - more) and was proud at how well I managed to follow the French, without much concentration! A sign of improvement I hope!
This weekend in particular has been fantastique! As everyone else's parents have come to visit, Amy and I spent our Saturday shopping, eating and generally having a good time without alcohol. As usual, I got very excited about a sweet shop and between us we ...
... yesterday, Saturday, and it is cooler but still nice. The trip here was spectacular with many olive groves and big mountains. Today we went on a tour to Les Beax - another medieval town with a castle - poor Graham and on his birthday too. Then we went winetasting and to the premier olive oil producers in France. The Mistrql was blowing on the tour and it was very cold but warmer back here in the camp. Tomorrow we explore Aix on foot then we go to Avignon.
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France falkewind... I have to spend $8 for a sandwich and bad coffee- like Maxwell House espresso or something- to find out whether their WiFi’s up and running, then that won’t work. I’ve got about one more place to try, and then I’ll have no other option but funky cyber-cafes. Welcome to 1999. I like my room, though. The French have just about perfected the combo bed/bathroom, which allows them to save dirty face ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... mountain range back behind the city. We ascended - somewhat slyly to avoid security - to the top of Palermo's palace to soak in the sights. It really makes sense that years ago a civilization chose this location to build a city: you have the port, weather, and protection from attack (the mountains). Just gorgeous. Tunis is not nearly as poor as the Moroccan cities I saw. In fact, it has a main drag that is reminiscent of a grand Parisian boulevard. However ...
Sevilla, Spain michelob... it taste better, anyhow, its good to have friends in high places. After several weeks in Bandol, I was ready to move again and excited about the prospects of Geneva, a sentiment not shared by anyone else because to them it meant going back to school, to work, to a pile of letters on the kitchen table. Nevertheless, there was a new city for me to discover and a new environment to be in with the kids, in other words, refreshment. Ah.
Bandol, France alicecrabtree... bowls. Erik let Sven play with his, since Erik is allergic to crab now. Since I am not very familiar with fish from the Mediterranean, I didn't know what I was eating, but it was all cooked well (not overcooked) and the broth was still delicious. The crab was too small to be anything besides decoration. We left Marseille happy, very full, and pleasantly surprised by our short day trip. Traffic from Marseille to Aix-en-Provence at 9:00 PM midweek was nothing.
