... when he'd finished. When we did get riding, we had to exit the city via the footpath inside another canal tunnel, that takes the boats from one side of the city to the other. Today's ride was very scenic once again, between the Doubs and the canal, with mountains towering either side. Today there were more than 30 locks, ( they were numbered, so I didn't have to count them ), so we were climbing upwards gradually. There were some good steep climbs as well, I'm sure ...

Labergement. A very Swiss looking town in heart of The Alps. Close to the Swiss boarder and Mont D'Or. Aire. 10 bay parking lot next to very high tech Sports facilities and community centre. With vast lakes for a playground. Funny sort of new town with the most fantastic sports facilities next to Lac de Remoray Boujeons. This would have been a great little place for a family stopover in ...

After a slow walk back the rest of the day was spent on housework
    and ...

... steps for both the fantastic experience of the climb itself and for the great view it offers of the same high alps we saw before lunch on our hike. We are given a color Xerox sheet to use at the top to identify which mountain is which. Caron has the willies ascending so high up over the city, but she sticks with it and is able to walk the whole perimeter of the tower with some trepidation but is in a rush to get back down.

... brisk walk along the lake side woke us up! Impressive to see kite surfers out so early in the year.

On the return trip we did a quick side trip to Romainmotier, a very cute ancient town with a old cloister in it. The sun was setting and it was a truly beautiful reminder to the past, the stunning diversity and beauty of this country. The pictures can tell more than I can :)
