... and not the cliff-side, so it landed in the powder snow about 5m below us, with only the cord hanging out! There was no way any of us would be able to retrieve it, but we figured if we found someone with climbing gear they may be able to help us. Eventually we found a staff member who put on his crampons and climbing gear, abseiled down off the bridge and retrieved the camera for us. ... It went through tunnels cut through rock and over viaducts. We got glimpses of Chamonix and the valley down below as we chugged up the mountain. The boys were so very excited to be on such an amazing adventure.

When we got to the top to Montveners, which is 1913m above sea level, there was a little station and a historical old hotel, which was opened in 1880. We could see the incredible glacier winding its way down ...

... 15 minutes for this part of the evening, which was pretty ridiculous, considering that there were 51 countries to represent. Granted, they don't play the entire national anthem for all of the countries- for some they just play the beginning and then stop if no one is singing it or the kid from that country has already left. But it still takes way more than 15 minutes. After that, they had a picture slideshow, then a quick video of different people from camp waving ...

... uploading some pictures to facebook. I went up to see if we could get a telecabine pass from Tim. It took three trips up, but I finally did catch him when he was available and he gave me a pass. At 2:00, we walked over to the telecabine to ride up to Berneuse.
