... caught a local train to Chamonix proper and checked back into the Grand Hotel des Alps, our original starting point, where we were repatriated with our luggage. The day started out pretty normal with clouds threatening and the odd drop of rain. Our goal today was to head over into France once again via the col de Balme, on the border of France and Switzerland. Well me made it, but not quite as planned... After leaving the Col de la Forclaz we headed towards the hamlet of le Peuty, but somewhere along the way we missed a turn and ended up in Trient - this was after a fair bit of downhill... The grounds of the museum are simply amazing. You wind up a walkway that has a symbolic relationship to the Olympic distance of a marathon. The flora and fauna had me drooling over the different flowers and types of grass they had growing. As you ascended the walk way - you could see the view of Lake Geneva - just amazing. Beautiful boats, yachts, impeccable hotels and associated grounds speckle and sprawl beyond the main road ...

... 15 minutes for this part of the evening, which was pretty ridiculous, considering that there were 51 countries to represent. Granted, they don't play the entire national anthem for all of the countries- for some they just play the beginning and then stop if no one is singing it or the kid from that country has already left. But it still takes way more than 15 minutes. After that, they had a picture slideshow, then a quick video of different people from camp waving ...
