... many of the residence were torn from their homes and deported to German concentration camps. Few returned. Built in 1948 this memorial will serve as a reminder for years to come. I will always remember it situated beside its stunning lake a sad moment photographing but we have honoured and remembered those who died at the hands of the Nazis in camps. Stunning Beaujolais wine country today. Our cycling through vineyards was spectacular. Several very steep hills followed by downhill stretches. The best cycling yet. Waked the streets of Lyon in the morning. Some very good shopping, however being Sunday, everything was closed in the time we were there. Metro to Gare Part Dieu, then caught the Ter to Meximieur, and from there took the bus to the hilltop village of Perouge. ... Paul's relief as three traffic cones had tried to commit suicide by throwing themselves into his path earlier and scared the pants off Paula to boot.
