We left Liege this morning at 10:30 and made excellent time through two locks and 35 km to Huy. On the way the beautiful Belgian scenery was spoiled by derelict industrial facilities beside the river-- very unimpressive for about 20km of the whole trip. 8th Leaving The Netherlands One thing about any other country to The Netherlands is the topography-- it has some variation. The photos show a number of scenes going into the Lanaye Ecluse (Belgian/French for "lock"). This was one very big lock and it was more crowded than any we'd experienced before. ... asking for a receipt; which we got as a scribble on the back of a business card. So we leave the Valse Lent and Namur behind, a lovely peaceful spot, but not really relaxing to stay in the end. We drive to Andenne along the river Meure, which is the first place the tour crosses before heading up for a climb and then turning back to finish in Huy. We follow the route the tour will take, and see early preparations, people staking their spot, road blocks, cafes with flags ...

... Luckily Peter shouted otherwise we may have been closer than they meant.  Lane 41 they said. We missed it as I was carefully following a lorry round to boat to Calais. We wanted Dunkirk.
