... br> Monday we headed back to Heidelberg, Germany to return the bikes and prepare them for storage at Knopf Tours - until our next visit. While hanging out at Knopf’s B&B we had the opportunity to meet several other motorcyclists, one of whom had been on the road for five years, and swap travel stories. It must have been a hectic week. We arose at 10:00 after just the 12 hours sleep. Fitbit says hoorah! Time for a shower. Ah, we're back in France with French facilities - unisex toilets with no toilet seats (but no longer with holes in the floor), and no hot water in the showers. No wonder French women always look cross ;-) It's rest day today, as if you hadn't spotted. Just time to book in for another night before we get charged for ...
... nothing needed passing! At St Die des Vosges we elected to press on for another hour over the Vosges mountains and down into Colmar. Apart from a squeaky wheel which is getting our attention, if not our investigation, we arrived intact at a campsite just 2km from the centre of Colmar. For €14 this was a bargain, so we may well stay for a couple of nights. Once again, the rain abated late in the day, so the BBQ ...
Had a relaxing morning. Went out the local hypermarket, E.Leclerc, to get flowers for Sonia and Marie. When we returned Marie had prepared another amazing meal. Salad, red cabbage and two different types of sausage. Delicious. Around 16:00, Serge (Alice and Karen's cousin) showed up. We followed him to his home in Leimbach. ... roads, across the French border, and on towards Strasbourg, where we eventually picked up another Autoroute (but no more tolls). We arrived in the city centre of Colmar where our hotel is located around 9:00.
