The ship anchored in the bay and we went ashore on the ship's tender boats. In the morning it was reasonably calm, however getting back in the afternoon was a different story, boat rolling from side to side, a bit scary actually. Calvi, a charming island south of the French Riverina, the bay surrounded by mountains, so picturesque. The first real recorded history of Calvi was approx. 1000 BC, when ...

... delivered back around 4.30. Sharon opted for a chocolate crepe, had another little wander and a drink before getting back on board around 5.30. We nipped upstairs, had a drink and a light snack before heading back to the front of the ship for our departure. Got chatting to Frank who used to be a groundsman for the England cricket team, lived in Glasgow (not worked that one out yet). Lovely fella, nice to chat to. The departure was nice and we headed to ...

... to the ship. We were running a bit late and were the last to board before we set off. Calvi and surrounds were quite modern with a lovely feel. It is the type of place that I could stay for a week or so and relax. Interesting sidelight - when the French first took over the island (I think about the early 1900's) people were banned from speaking or writing Corsican. Anyway our tour guide can speak it and she sang a Corsican song for us. It was a lovely touch. We both ...

... accompanied by a light rain shower. Corte is the centre for the Corsica National Park which covers a large part of,the centre of the island. After settling into the hotel, we went into town to walk around and have a drink in the main square. There were a lot of hikers and bicyclists around. In the evening, we had a great meal at a trendy, modern restaurant called ...
