What an adventure we are having, oh my word!!! We left our beautiful Sirince with giving lots of hugs and kisses to Ari and his lovely wife as well as the chef, Ari's brother and father (Mama was probably on the farm picking cherries), headed down the mountain to Selcuk for our 3 hour train trip to Denizli and from there by bus to Pamukkale. The road took us through farmlands filled with pomegranite trees, fig trees, apricot trees, lucerne fields, olive trees ...

... glad I got to see what it looked like on a smaller scale Anything you would need could be sold here, not great quality a lot from Asia but interesting to see. You could get very lost a lot of the stalls look the same. We stumbled across some baby chicks - I got to pat so cute. I wanted to hold one but was worried the man would charge me. ... honeybee hives.  and then, after we'd seen no people for a lot of kilometers, we came to a tea stand.  of course.  and, of course, we had to have tea.  that was brewed in a clever "tea pot" - bottom layer to hold the wood fire, second layer to hold hot water, and the top to brew the tea.  nice.  back down through the pine forests.  which also held flocks of goats. we also had life size plastic dinosaurs from some long forgotten theme park and perfect weather.  ...

... waiters tried to encourage us in. On the other side of us were many large boats moored up. Some were swanky yachts with people sipping from flutes of champagne on their decks (making me jealous..!) but the majority were boats for tourist trips around the islands in this region of Turkey. ... amp; Italian thrown in. This is not at all like the Muslim areas we have visited. Here short shorts and tank tops rule. I felt conspicuous with long pants, Tee shirt and head s are.
As we wandered along the beautiful Calis beach boardwalk we slowly acclimatized to the searing heat and the laid back beach life. Strange to see all the slathered body covered beach chairs placed next to signs warning about Turtle nesting grounds. As if ...
