... foot of some precipitous cliffs - must have cost billions.
St Denis was equally a non event. The streets were narrow, it was hot, although there was a cooling, fresh, humid, sea breeze. The highlight of our visit was going into an iShop and downloading 128 emails on to my iPhone!

After another wait we got the bus back to Le Port, changed buses to the terminal, changed again to the ship and that was the sum total of our trip ...

We walked along the sidewalk near the beach and could see surfers enjoying the large waves. Even though there was a sign posted "No swimming, no surfing" because of sharks. Maybe the sharks were busy somewhere else that day.

... for granted in Nairobi, no matter the time of day.

We checked in quickly and began the two hour wait for our flight, in the overcrowded terminal. They've tried to make more space, which is desperately needed, by taking out more and more of the duty free shops. My old favorites are now gone; the remaining shops are small and lean. The flight left on time at 13:15 and was not completely full which was pleasant.

We had a three hour flight ...

... three hours. The ship went the short distance overnight to Le Port on the north west coast of the island of Reunion. Reunion is a part of France, not just a overseas protectorate like Noumea or Tahiti, but an actual prefecture of France. It is a circular Island with a diameter of about 80 km with mountains rising almost straight out of the sea up to nearly 10000ft, higher than it is volcanic in origin and still has an active volcano which last erupted in 2012. Because the ship ...
