    ... These are generously funded by the local commune and are very well attended. Last night there was a small group singing in those lovely old French songs that tell a story, with a very repetitive melody....but most of the crowd seemed to know all the words off by heart, and tapped along with big smiles on their faces. We mused that this is a particularly French phenomenon.

    We've come back to La Franqui. It's a cheap campsite on the beach. Last year it was scorching. This year we arrived to warnings of a storm. A couple of beers ensured a great nights sleep and the weather has changed. The wind has died, the sun is shining and there is some blue sky. D will be able to go in the sea. We spent 4 days here. The weather has been very changeable. And at first we had to wade through ankle deep water to get to the beach. ...
