After leaving at about midnight and some 400 miles driving we arrived here at about 7pm. Settled in and have done a bit of site seeing. The stone alignments at Carnac were amazing but Mike forgot to take his camera. We'll have to go back. Went to Quiberon and Pont Aven on Sunday and just like the Isle of Wight there was nowhere to park! Went back to Pont Aven today it was wonderful. Going walking along vallee de L'Isole tomorrow only 13 k. More later.

Isa Lei (the yacht) planned to enter the Belon c. 10:30 so we got to Kerfany beach early, watched them in and greeted them off the dinghy. Great to see them.

Followed them round to Belon port (opposite Chez Jacqui), with a little fish market, scruffy but charming. Pottered during the day with lunch on board then returned to the creperie for cotriade - a pre-ordered 7-fish stew drained ...

Packed up Saturday pm, luckily before overnight shower. Sunday morning, explored Ars-en-Re etc. before heading over bridge. As we did, another old friend, Rob, called to say he was with Peter and Janet and would be in the Belon River Monday. Would we detour? Would we - yes.

Jacky and Francoise took us to see France's Wild West.  It was quite the hike but we made it France's western most point.  If we went any further, we would have apparently made it to Quebec. :)  The most impressive thing though was how fast Francoise was climbing those farily steep rocks.....in cowboy boots!! Go Francoise!

... much. Sort of a combination of beer and apple juice. We also went further away and climbed a small mountain (I do mean small - about 300 m) called Roc Trevezel. We walked up sat for a little while, and walked down, so it's not really worth its own entry. St. Tregonnec is an old and beautiful Breton church we visited, with beautiful decoration and carving. They had a candle by the tabernacle as a sign that the Blessed Sacrament ...

Brest (yes, pronounced like that), on the other hand, is not a beautiful city. It was destroyed completely in WWII and rebuilt in the 50's and since, apparently entirely out of concrete. The landscape around it is beautiful, but not the city itself. We got to the hotel Thursday night, ate dinner (in the French manner - three courses with wine and bread), and couldn't find anything better to do than walk around ...

We have spent one month in France with Nicolas family before the big tour. Here there is a couple of photos to highlight our holiday. We visited some very beautiful areas of Brittany and ate a lot of typical dishes. We really enjoyed it but unfortunately we have got an excess of 4 to 5 kg. This might be very useful for the next 5 months!!! We have done a lot of walking, cycling and kayaking to limit this massive intake of food but it has not work a lot we have to admit...

... richting Camaret willen gaan. Dit lukt erg mooi. Van zeilen komt niet veel vanwege de gedraaide wind dus weer eens op de motor. Maar na zo"n mooie zeildag als gisteren is dat dan niet erg. In Camaret is een uitgebreide kermis aan de gang. Voor maandag is ZW 5 voorspeld en om dan weer de oceaan op te steken voor de baai van Douarnenez en bij Douarnenez aan te leggen lijkt ons niet zinvol. Maandag zijn er inderdaad veel regenbuien maar die laten ...
