... its place. So whilst some buildings glorify the communist past, other bear the scars of the same time, and still other suggest the power of new ideologies. Whist the glass and steel still looks incongruous you get the impression that it won't be long before they dominate.

The people too seem divided between those embracing new business models and other seemingly intent on developing their own ...
Sofia, Bulgaria adamandmandana... a really nice guy that just wanted to talk. We spoke about the former Yugolslovia, which I noticed is typical conversation in this region. He was very knowledgeable. To top that all off he bought me a beer. I cant get over how friendly people have been with me. Thats why I love these smaller towns. Got my train to Sofia, Bulgaria and its funny ...
Sofia, Bulgaria jabuofr... taga olev termaalvete saun, on üks paljudest vaatamisväärsustest. L ...
Sofia, Bulgaria anneristo... check the timetable before boarding a train and were offloaded at 12:50pm in Veliko Tárnovo. Exhausted we faffed a little and then got a taxi into the town. We got a room fairly easily in a ladies house. Homestays are a tradition in Eastern Europe and it helps out the locals. It had a great view of the town and the river. Heading straight out we headed down through the old town and on to the fort. We trudged around it in the heat and found it to be quite ...
Sofia, Bulgaria dockerills... share their idea and actions. In my reports, I will tell about their vision of environmental modification and about changes that occurred in their everyday or professional lıfe." His website is: http://avenirclimat.info [french]. Damien and Delphine are fellow cyclist travellers, but with loads more experience... They are travelling now for two years on their tandem ...
Sofia, Bulgaria holadiyo... It's mine," I replied. He left to walk back to Sofia and I walked down to the small kiosk that served as a bus stop. It had been open before the rain started, but it was now closed. I sat under a small shelter and waited. The other three came about forty-five minutes later, and we began the painstaking wait for a bus that we weren't sure was going to come. We thought about walking and trying to find better shelter, but no one ...
Sofia, Bulgaria jaredwall... a Russia feel to it; from the Cyrillic letters, to the look of the streets to the look of the churches. At one point I could have sworn that I was standing in the square in front of Peterburg's St. Isaac's cathedral. The differences between Bulgaria and Russia: - people actually look happy here - prices are cheap (finally!!) - the language itself (though shares enough similarities for us to be able to communicate) The highlight of being in Sofia - the ...
Sofia, Bulgaria bradman... hopped in the taxi. In a lilting baritone voice he gave me the brief rundown on Sofia nightlife, warning me not accept any suspicious offers from gorgeous women in red dresses, nor to trust any other taxi drivers. I was a wee dead man tired from twenty hours of rickety train travel and all this dialogue seemed to ...
Sofia, Bulgaria o_thou_banditWe jumped on a bus heading for Sofia. Sometimes, other people get on buses and they have something you want. This time, the girl in front had a Bulgarian Lonely Planet, which by chance was new, so she WAS going to become my new best friend. She was Dutch, but a Pakistani background one. No problems there, the she lent it to me, then she said that she hated the Bulgarian people. That was the end of our brief friendship. Basically, she ...
Sofia, Bulgaria uncle_davros... It was just a pity that it rained at the top of the trek as we walked amongst the clouds, nevertheless an unforgetable experience. Well i head off to Northern Bulgaria this afternoon, probably will be spending another 3-4 days here before i enter Romania. By the reports from other travellers that have coming south, the Gypsies are quite bad on the train and at the train station, so will have to be on the ball once again. Hope you are all well Grin
