Woke up at the crack of dawn after a good nights sleep today and had a good walk round to see the nearby sites. Even though it was early the fish market was in full swing and what a site to behold, fresh fish galore straight off the boat onto the quayside, 2 litres of Mussels Si Vous Plait ! - my kind of grocery shopping. We ventured into town for fresh bread and the best garlic we have had in years to make Moules Marinere later ...

... facilities at Boulogne, with free wifi and electric at half the price of the UK marinas I'm loving France already. Brisk walk around the Old Town of Boulogne followed by dinner on board, Lamb Keema and Rice sitting in the sun - life's good so far ! Saw some amazing fish, fruit and veg shops on our jaunt into town and looking forward to cooking up some culinary delights with the goodies that are on offer ...

At the moment (it's 10pm) it seems that the Monday night entertainment is for those with motorbikes to ride them up and down the esplanade along the beach (ie right outside out hotel) at speed and revving as much as possible while travelling. Then repeat. And there seems to be about 4 of them. I'm hoping that this will become boring for them soon. Tomorrow we head to Dunkerque to catch up with ...

... golf. Le Touquet is in a beautiful area. No matter where you look it is well manicured and the houses well cared for. It has the feel of an upmarket US area. We played Le Touquet, La Mer, a course a bit like The Dunes which is a favourite of mine. After recovering a bit of my swing yesterday in the rain, I hit the ball so much better. I had a birdie and four four pointers. That ...

    Golf Day Four

Up at 7 am for a good breakfast ((if a little Fawlty Towers) and in the bus to golf by 8.30. Hardelot, Le Pins, was a great course set amongst pine and oak trees but much sparser than other days. It was established in 1905. There were very classy houses set amongst the trees and all was beautiful except the weather. After I had played four holes, the heavens opened and the lightning horn sounded and we had to leave the course. We ...
