... world and we doubt our sanity. But other times after a big day you will say, " I'm clean, I'm tired, the weather is beautiful, the scenery is beautiful. It doesn't get any better than this." Liz and I have also become known as the drug distributors of the Via Podensis as we always have the remedy for most problems. And I have codeine! I would not swap this for anything in the world. It is torture but it is wonderful. I do believe you become addicted. And ...

... I tried to get my surf skills down but the improvement is very little, Sahid instead had a blast with the great swell that was around. I think after months of not having touched the ocean or board, my smaller/new board, the cold weather and putting on a wet wetsuit is not working in my advantage. The town is at the lower slopes of the Pyrenees and the green hillsides reminded me of Sonoma with larger mountains in the background. Good local wine, olives ...

A long but interesting travel day. Took a long time to get out of Bilbao- it has Spain's longest tunnel, especially if you travel it twice! The Basque Country of Northern Spain is very different from Spain in general. Different language, darker complexions, and the houses are much more like what we have seen in Austria or Italy than in Spain. The country is hilly, richer, and greener. The coast along the Bay of Biscay very rugged with ...

      Travel day to Bayonne, France

Today was a travel day to meet up with our Rick Steve's tour group in Bayonne, France. The French high speed rail system (TGV) works like a charm and moves thousands of people in great comfort with every train. We arrived at Bayonne, on the western edge of France after about five hours of "flying". Bayonne is an old river port near the Atlantic Ocean - ...
