... I tried to get my surf skills down but the improvement is very little, Sahid instead had a blast with the great swell that was around. I think after months of not having touched the ocean or board, my smaller/new board, the cold weather and putting on a wet wetsuit is not working in my advantage. But i have to say, the waves so far on our trip were pretty good!

After a nice hotel breakfast, we travelled by bus to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (yes, that is the name of a city - complete with a mouthful of hyphens) to experience a farmers market, a small taste of the "Camino de Santiago" trek and a nice Basque lunch from the Navarro region. The town is at the lower slopes of the Pyrenees and the green hillsides reminded me of Sonoma with larger mountains in the background. Good local wine, olives ...

France again.

Drove through Guernica, site of severe bombing in the Spanish Civil War in April 1937, with huge civilian casualties, and inspiration for Picasso's anti-war painting "Guernica." ... from very young to quite old, they just ooze the culture of Paris.
The side walk cafés, where friends and family come together to drink and eat.
The parks and gardens, with green grass, park benches and stone fountains, full of young families and lovers, and all the apartment dwelling Parisiens out getting their fresh air for the day.

... la vie and I tapped away with my feet. When he pulled into the bus stop he rounded the price to €10 giving me a discount of €1 and a big smile. Bus trip to San Sebastián wound through tight little streets I think through Biarritz and then along the coast - a lot of tight corners and narrow roads. I am pretty sure another couple who also boarded were Aussies - I didn't get a chance to say anything as there was a difference of opinion with them and the bus driver ...
