... at how soft the snow was- just like Fairy floss. We drove on towards Grenoble and then Gap where we were staying the night. We drove through the most amazing picturesque scenery. Towering mountains and old fortresses either side as we moved along the valleys. Just stunning.

The hotel we stayed in was in a good location with the host being very friendly, he reminded us of Gabriel Gate. Gap was a gorgeous little town easily explored by foot from just outside the hotel.

... then decide the night before or that morning what to do. Paul had picked out a ride (up another really big hill) to the Col de Solude at an altitude of 1680m. We didn't really know what to expect from the ride except that Paul had read online from another cyclist that when you get to the top it is worth walking about 5 minutes to a view point, so off we set.
