Port Louis, Port Louis, Mauritius vmarchal... it. Good thing a bar was right next to it which had a dance floor. We all mobbed over there, bought some drinks, and began to get our grooves on. After an hour or so I looked around and noticed the whole bar was packed with Semester at Sea students. Also the dance floor was flooding with them. Overall it turned out to be a very fun night and one that will be remembered for a long time.
The next day came too fast ...
... hadn’t known there were any here or where they were, so he came an hour early to look for them. We walked to the inexpensive little Indian restaurant where I often eat when I’m in Port Louis. It’s located right on the waterfront, has tables outside on the boardwalk, good prices and good food. We had an enjoyable lunch and caught up on all the news both of him personally and of things in Mauritius. Clency’s an automobile ...
Quatre Bornes, Mauritius joelmeeker... a day until catching up with the original schedule. I'm glad though; it broke up the long voyage to India, and we had a really lovely day. Mauritius didn't make the list of places to return to. It's a bit too expensive, and there are other islands in the world that i like better. ..... but this rum is pretty darn good. ... May have to rethink the decision and come back just for this. YUM! Next stop: INDIA!!
Port Louis, Mauritius aniseh... shared a starter of spicy squid, then I had a prawn curry and Darren had creole fish. Both were served with a sauce made of tamarind and coriander and were delicious. Darren drank beer and I passed on the wine, since I suspected $56 for Jacobs Creek c******nay may be indicative of the price-quality ratio, and had a Sealovers Delight cocktail, compete with orange peel strip artistically made into a seahorse! We both had dessert, although we didn't need it - I had Chef´s ...
Pereybere, Mauritius penny71... We saw a little market area on the way in that we hadnt seen before, it was obviously where the locals go, so we mooched along through the narrow walkways with sheets hanging overhead (you can imagine it) and then we got to the little snack stalls. For 20 rupees (just under 50p) i got a bag of little snack things (not sure quite what they were but they were bloody tasty!) they were shredded veg etc in spicy sauces, a ...
Pamplemousses, Mauritius b.herring... but there's got loads and loads of beaches around. You can easily rent a car too - and cruise around the country. There are loads and loads of different beaches around - they're not all the same, and it's fun to "try" all of them. By try, I mean, swim in them, and lie on the beach and check out the babes around. Too bad there aren't any nude beaches around. Shopping is not bad in Mauritius - officially, there's the "Caudan Waterfront" - on the ...
Port Louis, Mauritius pintu... Due to unfortunate circumstances we made the decision to leave that evening and head back to the ship, loosing out on our bungalow and planned catamaran snorkeling trip the next day, but it was the right thing to do. The final day was spent once again exploring Port Luis, shopping, and doing the gastric crawl through the city (No food borne illnesses to date, so far so good!). Mauritius overall was a relaxing port and a good destination to ...
Port Luis, Mauritius tim_at_seaAs I mentioned in my previous post, on Sunday, we visited the Black River National Park. We hiked up to a lookout. It was a fun hike and Melissa and Shaylagh took the opportunity to take a dip in the river. Amélie also had a short dip. At the top, we had a really good view of the gorges below. The foliage is quite dense and lush. We saw some interesting species of birds. We took a break for a snack. Shay and I went berry picking and we found lots! They were delicious!
Black River, Mauritius gmonvoisin... which believe it or not is quite impossible!). Today, we all decided to split up. A bunch of people decided to stay on the beach, while others decided to hike the volcanic crater. Kim and I decided to go off on our own and hike "La Vallee Des Couleurs" a nature park in the Southern part of the island. Located in a forest of lush vegetation, the park slopes down the middle of a valley, and is packed tightly between two large mountains. The park is a sanctuary for ...
