This morning was an early start (6 AM) to catch the TGV train to Geneva. We had to take the metro to Paris Lyon, where we bought lunch for on the train, and then caught it to Switzerland. It was a bit slower than the Eurostar and took around 4:30. Otherwise it all went smoothly though. Once in Geneva, we caught the tram to CERN, the end of the line, and were slowly transferred ...

Woke up to another beautiful day. Hotel Pavillon had been excellent and a great place to relax for the night. Dinner was a 5 course meal with great wine to celebrate harriet's birthday. See the picture from our room window. It is going to be very difficult leaving here to get on the path again. Such a quaint and modern town. Next stop Lavachey, still in Italy but just a small hamlet. -- ...

You know what they say, in for a penny, in for a pound. After returning from ...

... no surprise, we started going downhill but it was less steep and longer than before. After around an hour we reached Les Contamimes, a village. Our hotel is les Christiana and it makes us miss our hotel last night, the washrooms are smelly and small but it's only for 1 night. We will all sleep well tonight - Tali We are all exhausted , so early night as we have the longest day and highest ascent (4000 ft) ...

Day 54: Chamomix and Mont Blanc

... hardcore adventure. This is where people with skis, ropes, ice axes and crampons go. They go to summit Mont Blanc, or to ski down the mountain, or to go climb stuff. Pretty impressive considering it's a white out and -5 degrees Celsius. They were also doing some work on the platforms here. There was a small excavator working on the side of a massive slope in these conditions. It was pretty nuts! We then returned down the mountain ...
