Bright start to the morning after a good night's sleep. A light breakfast and then off to explore Arles. It's a fairly large town. It has a Bull Ring, an Roman amphitheatre and it gave van Gogh a home to paint his Sunflowers. He shared his flat with his mate, Gaugin before they fell out and Goghy went short sighted! ( he cut his ear off and so his specs wouldn't stay on - boom boom) We didn't ...

After downing the drinks with the thirst of a man stranded on a desert island without water for 6 weeks, food was ordered, rapidly consumed and after switching to a couple of glasses of "vin rose"' we got the bill, paid and walked off the lunch back to the B&B. This morning we are heading off on another optional excursion to Chateauneuf du Pape, a small village where the popes once had their summer residence. The vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape are naturally stony, which traps the heat of the day and keeps the vines warm at night. The vines are kept quite low, and by law cannot be on wires. Also by law, only 13 varieties of grape can be used, and are blended together. All ...
