Italian Tea Party

... tea, she had a tray of ceramic tea pots sitting out at her table with cream and honey and lumps of sugar. There was also some cookies and a plate of brownies she had baked. These she cooked with olive oil instead of vegetable oil because she ran out so we warned us that they might be slightly salty. But they were still very good.

She even lent us some books from her collection that ...

A Much Nicer Day Trip To Siena!

... gorgeous fettuccine with black truffles that I have ever tasted. (The truffles were so delicate, and nutty, and melt-in-your-mouth…) For our mains (“secondi piatti”), I had a mixed salad (I know, boring, but it’s hard to eat so much food in the middle of the day!) and Murray had sausage with cannelloni beans in a wonderful sauce. (Yes, he enjoyed some beer, too!) For a small dessert, we ordered a biscuit version of Siena ...

Thursday caught a bus to Siena with Nonie and Kerrin.

My Sienese Life

... class Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6pm in which we talk about Italian history and culture from WWII to the present. It's really interesting, but I won't get into details here. Every Wednesday there is also an open air market from around 7am to 1:30 in which they sell clothes and shoes and kitchen good and all sorts of odds and ends for really cheap prices. Then on weekends I often travel because we have three days. And that is pretty much my life in a nutshell here in Siena. =)

Two Days in Siena

... br>
We were let go from the tour at the Duomo and look around on our own then left to souvenir shop. We ran into the Orrs and Jim wanted to stop at McDonalds for dinner so we stopped and watched him eat. The two couples then moved onto the Piazza Campos were we found a restaurant to have dinner at. Kathie had soup and I had pasta while we watched the tourist go by in the piazza. While our meal was being prepared she told me that she saw our neighbors from home go by. I ran out ...

Villa Villiano - just south of Asciano, Italy

... no interest in another farmers market.   (Smig)  The "We" in that last statement was Erica and the mouse in her pocket.  I really like the local markets, they have just great smells and real people.   I would have loved to hang out here for the next few hours, but WE had other things to do.   (Erica)  The COOP in this town is also closed and I get really annoyed! (Smig) It's Sunday afternoon around 4pm, and if one Co-op is closed, I bet every Co-op ...

Florence - Taking a tour and seeing a march

... group took time to stop in the street and hop up and down for awhile. They were also carrying tons of the rainbow peace flags, so I got out my camera to try and get some pics. One of my random favorite parts of the night - before we hit the parade, we were waiting to cross the street with a lady and her little dachsund puppy. I'd seen the lady and her dog before in our neighborhood, so I made eye contact and raised my eyebrows ...
