As we drove closer to San Marino, we all started saying, "Did she REALLY say "the NATION" of San Marino?? And that's exactly what it was: It's full title is "The Republic of San Marino". John will do doubt tell you of its history. It's set high on a mountain, with the most glorious view and was yet another treasure chest waiting to be opened for us! It was our nicest hotel by far - VERY upmarket! - and it was exciting to follow the ...
We are on our last day in Rimini, and we're both quite glad of it. Not that we haven't had a good time (though the hostel has been a bit rubbish).
The journey down here from Munich was a real slog! It took 8 hours, though that didn't really bother us too much. 8 hours of discomfort on a cramped Italian train however, that was what made it difficult. It was a compartment style train (6 seat per compartment, 3 on each side facing each other) which seemed great when we first sat down ...
We got to Rimini later that night after Pompeii. It was another 6 hour drive so again we were exhausted. We checked into the hotel and it was perfect. Nicer than the last one we were at. We had booked in advance for the night and the rate was 30eros cheaper than the next night so we (I) thought we would just get there and tell them we wanted another night at the same price. Unfortunately they played me harder than I played them and said they had no availability ...
Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy moore_mattjRavenna was somewhere Matt had insisted we visit, so I included it as a day trip in our packed itinerary. Little did I realise this would be the highlight of our trip. Ravenna is possibly the only place on earth where you can visit 8 UN World Heritage sites in less than a day (although we unfortunately only managed 7, as one was closed for renovations).
Home to the oldest and best ...
... right side in the clear with a few precious, unmolested moments. I looked down the field at Piva and Panzani who have drawn the majority of the defensive attention. The diversion is working perfectly. I pull up short of the line of scrimmage and look back to my left where Reggie is indeed hanging out on the sideline just about at the line of scrimmage with a linebacker watching him from 5 yards in front. I flashed angry for a second because it was exactly what I ...
Milano Marittima, Emilia-Romagna, Italy mavsqb1... the start. It was every show, not just the odd one. They were truly amazing and probably the best we’ve had yet. I imagine the finale was what it must be like at a rock concert - they rushed down the front dancing and screaming...all for me of course...and the rush it gave was brilliant.
Thank you so much Forli..you were great!
But no photos...sorry!
... museum was closed that day.We explained we had come all this way to see it and he kindly agreed to open it up after lunch for us. He showed us a place to get lunch agreeing to meet us back at the museum in an hour and half. At lunch we ate a great meal of antipasto and pasta and I downed the house wine which came in a caraffe. Not wanting to waste it I drank the lot and so was suitably mellow by 3pm when we returned to the museum. The museum was ...
Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy kasnsqueak... first 95k where they split the 205k course heading south on a loop, adding 4 or 5 more climbs before getting back to Cesenartico. Must admit even when I was dry I briefly thought about just doing the 130k loop - not sure why? The thought didn't last long (unfortunately?) and without hesitation I turned right and started the real adventure. The sky was dark, the tops of mountains obscured with cloud, where you could see at least a hundred other rides ...
