... items and the like. Then it was onto a guy who made flowers from metal cans, these were really clever and he made roses, daisys, lillys and allsorts. He was a really sweet guy and said he kept dreaming of making these flowers so taught himself how to do it!
We then walked around the township and met lots of people, at no point did I feel that I shouldnt be there but it probably helped that we were with a local. There were lots ...
On Tuesday the 6th the day started out rather ugly -- chilly, windy, and some light rain. I definitely wasn't impressed! Luckily, like I said in the last entry, the clinic isn't far from my host family so I didn't have to be outside for long. According to Sister Cutzier's schedule, I was supposed to be in the TB room today. The TB room has two main purposes - diagnosing/testing patients suspected of TB and giving medication to those that are being treated ...

Paarl, South Africa basa1126... with a day at four different vineyards. So when they rolled out the bubbly - worth over R1000 a shot, I couldn't help it. And that's when the laughter began, and the giggles, and the cackles, and the headache. Yes, thank you Elizabeth for what you have made me become. A Champagne floozy in the Cape. (Great day though, hey!)
Paarl, South Africa off_road_clara... at that stage!!) There was also a goat tower outside for the goats to climb up!! Then we went for lunch where someone decided to get the tequilla and strawrum (probably not spelt right) out. The strawrum is around 80% so it's pretty potent. Gav who is basically a lightweight when it come to drinking volunteered to drink 2 of them at once which was pretty impressive....until we learned later that his were actually just coloured water!!! After ...
Stellenbosch, South Africa cat2222... maybe 100 Rand a week and have to support an entire family. After five weeks, yesterday was the first day I saw beauty in Kayamandi. A group of seven international students went to the pre-primary school I volunteer at to build a sandbox. The ISEP Sandbox Project was funded by one of the ISEP main coordinators. The school had previously only had a large asphalt blacktop (that will usually have shattered glass around) and a small patch of grass for the children to play on (which I have seen ...
Stellenbosch, South Africa tamilouise... felt like much longer. After my abseiling antics and a couple of quick strolls around the summit, we had lunch in the restaurant, quite bizarre to find chips and smoked chicken and mayo sanwiches on top of a mountian, they also sold champagne, but we'll come onto that later. I raved about the abseiling so much that, when we found an ATM, Erwin decided that it had to be attempted, and got some cash. While we watched him from the observation spot, an American lady, whose name we ...
Stellenbosch, South Africa fmh... guy who Dineo reccomended who drives us places, but we've decided that although he is very nice, he is extortionately expensive, we only used him because we needed to get into Cape Town for 8:00 in the morning which meant being picked up at 7:00, which nobody else was willing to do. This weekend we're using the Backpacker bus though, which is a bit cheaper. So we were picked up, driven into Cape Town and dropped off in front of the Cat & Moose. This was the hostel on Cape Town's ...
Stellenbosch, South Africa fmh... with their samples. I think we were drunk by 9 am, but hey, we were on vacation and going to have a good time if it killed us. We visited 5 wineries and a place which specialized in port. We also took in some cheese tasting and managed to squeeze in some chocolate tasting as well.
Stellenbosch, South Africa woolly... Two other people were jumping at the same time as me, a German couple, it was her birthday. At the mouth of the gorge is Lehr's Falls, a stunning waterfall overlooking the floor of the gorge, 100 metres below. The three of us were led to the edge of the waterfall where our harnesses were fitted. Then I bade goodbye to AD (the chicken) who made his way round the path from where he took the video which I hope you can view. He said it made him feel queasy just watching me!
Down a ...
