    ... I help load a few, then we are onto the bus, in the dark, with our breakfast boxes with don’t have anything very appetizing in them. I think I remember a rather smashed banana which was too smashed for me to eat and a juice bottle and a savory roll of some kind.     ... we were off to Georgetown, reaching the Kanuku Suites within a half hour. Wifi was fine once I deleted one letter from the given password. Mike went off for a steak and Omar and I went off at 1900, opting for the Maharaja Palace. It was a rather swish place. Food was good and service the same. I liked it better than the Garden of Eden but Omar opted for the latter, faults aside.

    Back to the room and the a/c was off. I was tired and hoped for the best with no covers.

    Omar and I walked toward the civic and historic part of Paramaribo. It was overcast and the occasional raindrop was a fearful harbinger of something worse. We hugged the Suriname River, passing by Independence Square, various statues of people heretofore unknown to me, barely anyone else about save the occasional tourist.
