Tasmania is so beautiful!

Kyle, Stewart, and I took the discount airline (Tiger Airways) to Hobart last Wednesday night. Stewart's girlfriend Leah lives here in a house with three bedrooms so there was plenty of space for all of us!
Thursday Kyle and I spent the day running around the town getting to know it a little better. We found some cute shops, the tourist information, and the waterfront. It was a fun little day out on the town.
Leah didn't ...

Great Ocean Road and Tasmania

... work, I want to work, I can do a job for you. Errrr and that was it. I'm sure the line was off the hook. Not! And the music - eclectic! Bad radio stations aside, Tasmania is amazing. The countryside rolls with beautiful green hills growing apples and grapes and all sorts. The first stop was Cradle Mountain National Park. We stayed in the coldest cabin in the world, not helped by the fact that the owners had forgotten to turn the gas on for the first part of the evening ...

Tassie Tales

... some of the flowers were already in bloom. Several bees were bee-sy collecting honey and just sitting down and watching them go about their bee-siness was an extremely therapeutic exercise. Perhaps it was also a combination of the warmth of the setting sun and the cool breeze which put us at ease; or perhaps the purple colours made us feel like royalty enjoying a quiet moment in the gardens of Windsor Castle. Either way, we were reluctant to leave. But what we left for made up ...

... it immensely, even an old lady who must have been at least 80. We slept well that night! H cycled up Mt Wellington on Sunday on his little fold-up bike!!!! He is not the only mad one, I was chatting with a lady from Brisbane today (about as old as me) and she did the same thing a couple of days ago. Today we had a lovely time eyeing out the boats at the wooden boat festival. Some of the tall ships were there....The Young Endeavour, "James Craig" and a pirate ship with no name.

Tasmanie - Hobart, the Overland track...

Tasmania - Another beautyful day in paradise

... day of my quick Tasmanian tour, I hiked through the Cradle Mountain - Lake St. Clair National Park. Lake St. Clair is on the south side of the park and Cradle Mountain is on the north end. The plan was to hike around Lake St. Clair, then drive to the north side to climb the mountain. What I didn't realize is that the only way to get through the park is to hike, which takes 5-7 days. I also wasn ...

Devonport to Hobart

... that was about n10cm long that you could plug lights into (how cute). We drove on and reached a town called Ross where we walked a bit to find the toilets, then went to a bakery to get lunch. We had lunch and mum and dad got a desert like thing while I had the worlds yummiest choc chip peppermint ice cream. From there we drove to the end of the street to go on a little walk o we could see the old women's prison, it was all gone except for the staff bit so we walked around it ...

The Apple Isle...

... in our friend Ben's flat. Ben hasn't even technically moved into this place and is in Sydney at the moment so we kinda feel like squatters, living in this flat where even the electricity has yet to be connected. But hey, it's a place with four walls, and that's more than what we've had for a while so definitely no complaints! We've still got the south and east coasts of Tassie to do before we'll be back on the ferry and on our way back to the mainland.
