Our second last stop was Salzburg, as we headed back to Switzerland for our flight home. We were also beginning to wind down and reflect on our trip. This meant less powerwalking around the city and more strolling and relaxing on park benches. Salzburg was a nice place to do it because if you're not going to do a sound of music tour there isn't a whole lot to see. Just another nice quaint Austrian town ...
hey all,
I forgot about Salzburg... we went there before Prague... I guess I have put it out of my mind because KB sang the musical the whole time we were there! lol, it was great though...
We got to Salzburg at night and tried to follow the directions to the hotel, but we didn't know if we had to go right or left out of the train station, so KB asked some, what I thought were ...
After our 5 hour train ride, we finally arrived in Salzburg! We weren't so lucky to arrive in daylight, so we had to try and find our hotel in the dark once again. We had directions, but when we came out of the train station, we weren't sure if we came out the right exit to follow the instructions. So I decided I'd ask a girl that was standing outside smoking...but she didn't speak english very well. So she told us that the group of kids ...
Salzburg, Austria kkb-myadventure... a romantic, picturesque city, and practically everything closes early. I swear, the place seemed to completely shut down at about 5 PM. So we called it an early night, in order to be ready for some sightseeing the next day!
The next morning, we got up for my first real breakfast and milk since we’d left Paris (I’m surprised I wasn’t suffering withdrawal symptoms or something, though I did ...
... Maybe this was a good time to go alone but we stuck with our group and did pretty good, but the singles definitely kicked our butts in speed.
All together we spent about three hours in and around the mines before going back down the funicular to find mom and Lincoln. They enjoyed their relaxing time so in the end it was a nice day for everyone.
And now, back to the highway!
Happy New Year everyone!
I hope that 2008 is off to a great start for you. After I started getting complaints about not writing emails, I figured I would get back in the saddle. I've been very busy since my last email, as I’m sure you all have been as well…so if you have the time to make it through this email, you must be doin’ alright.
I left you in Berlin, decorated for Christmas, and so I will pick up from there. The ...
... Croatian sweet and savory snacks. We were encouraged to try as many as we'd like. There was no charge, but we were welcome to give a small donation if we wanted! The snacks were really delicious, but also very high in fat (one was deep fried dough), so we were happy to be hiking afterwards. On Monday morning we were up bright and early to have the car at the garage by 7:30 am. By noon it was fixed enough ...
Salzburg, Austria chronometers... our Greece portion (where we are flying to) to prolong the roadtrip. After Freda's initial problems, she's been nothing but fantastic and we love the set up, so it will be hard to say goodbye. But, with our plane tickets already bought, we'll most likely stick with the original plan. In the meantime, more Austrian Alps to come...then its pizza, pasta, and gelato time in Italy (for a day or two anyway), before returning to wine and cheese country on the island of Corsica!
St. Wolfgang, Austria vagabonderzAugust 26-Monday
We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest. It was rather chilling to see that part of history. The bunker is now a restaurant. Our rest stop overlooked a valley filled with wonderful homes. What a view! Back on the bus and on to Salzburg. Time 10:35.
Salzburg
August 26-MondayWe had to get up a little earlier today because we were headed for our first big road trip: Salzburg, the home of Mozart. ( I am really looking forward to this trip.) We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest.
