Had some breakfast & booked an afternoon trip to the Cu Chi tunnels and went for a swim. Thought we'd go for a walk & we were stopped at the hotel door by a Vietnamese business man. He warned us about wearing our gold chains on our necks & said as motorbike goes past they sometimes grab them. A quick return to our room to remove them. I …

I am sitting here at the hotel, waiting for Jason to get ready so that we can begin exploring Ho Chi Minh. Up to this point, we have had an interesting journey....we were ripped off in Sydney by a sydney cabbie, we had the privledge of watching a domestic on the plane to Bangkok for 9 hours... I personally felt like I was watching an episode of …

... not seem to be long enough so we have rationed ourself to only 4 nights in Saigon. There is so much to see and do here that we decided to get up early and attack the day with a walk around the old part of the city. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious with proper baguettes, jam and butter and an omelet with tomato and onion. Then by 8am we were off on a walking adventure. HCMC is split into 19 districts and is really more of a province than a city. It is massive so ...

... first called Com Hen, but the waiter said that “we wouldn’t like it” and tried to offer us the Pork Chop and Rice instead!!! Quite rude really, all because he thought we wouldn’t like Pig skin. We left the restaurant and headed back to the hotel to get our bags sorted for when we leave tomorrow and also to do some more of the blog. Afterwards, we went out for some food and ended up getting a Mexican as we thought it would be a nice change. Turns out it was ...

    A pleasant surprise

    from

This year was my first trip back to Nam since 95. At the time I thought SaiGon was very hectic, dirty, and poluted- all my childhood dreams were shattered. This trip, however, was wonderful, and I brought my wife and 2 kids. SaiGon is now a much more liveable place, it is still very busy, but more classy hotels are being built and there more much more night life to enjoy. I admit that having lived in America for more than 30 years my accomodation and food requirements have changed, and I was somewhat skeptical about being back in Nam with my family. The Legend Hotel changed all that. I chose it because it was next to the Saigon River and I thought the climate would be better than in the city. July was hot but not unbearable thanks to the frequent short rains. The Legend hotel was only a 15 minutes walk to the center of town. It is a new hotel, visited mainly by Japanese and Koreans. Unlike other 4-5 stars hotels this hotel's ground is expansive with a huge lobby and a large size pool. The rooms were very modern with nice toilet features :-) The service is excellent and the daily breakfast buffet will satisfy anyone's craving for Vietnamese food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Saigon with family. My kids loved it.

    Fantastic service

    from

what a great hotel, just 5 minutes walk from all the shops & other hotels, but a bit more peaceful. We only stayed 2 nights & in between went on an overnight trip to the Mekong Delta, but on our return the staff all remebered us, we even had a 'welcome back' card. A 5 star hotel in every respect

    Good hotel

    from

We stayed at the Legend Hotel for one night and were pretty happy with it. We booked our stay through Andrew at [--] (a pleasure to deal with) and were able to get a price that was about 20% less than what the hotel quoted us. The deluxe room was nice, nothing too extravagant. We booked our Cu Chi tunnels tour through the travel agent in the lobby of the hotel. The driver and the guide were prompt and professional. I had a massage at their spa which was very nice, $16 for 2 hours. Overall a good stay.

    Weekend in Ho Chi Minh

    from

Was in HCMC with friends for the weekend and stayed at Legend hotel and did not regret it. Buffet breakfast was great with lots of choices for even the most discriminating. The staff was friendly and helpful. The one thing we noticed though was that the water pressure in the showers was so strong, the gooseneck shower heads frequently flew off. Location was great, as you could walk to most city landmarks.

    Slipping Standards

    from

As a resident in the Saigon area there are many Hotels which vy for business from the local community for their Restaurants.

I had visited the Legend Hotel on a number of occasions in the past and thoroughly enjoyed their service, and particularly the buffet restaurant, wide regarded as one of the best in town.

On my most recent visit i was surprise in the changes. Service was laclustre, to the point where the employees were more interested in getting their own dinner from the buffet as opposed to serving the customers. The food had greatly reduced in quality.

A generally dissappointing experience in a Hotel i previoulsy rated quite highly.

The Legend Hotel is excellent, really pleased with our stay!

    from

My husband and I are expats residing in Hanoi and we have travelled to major cities in the States, Europe and Asia. Now that I've returned from HCMC and sitting at home, I must say that I cannot think of a single criticism of this hotel. 100% recommend it. Fantastic!

Stayed for one night with my husband. Left feeling thoroughly refreshed.

    Room beautifully furnished.

Breakfast was faultless, we had to stop ourselves from overeating! e.g. there were six different types of noodles, choice of four meats to go in your noodles, and wontons.

I really appreciated the little touches, e.g. basket of apples by the lift on our floor, bathroom towels ('Made in USA') large and luxurious, even the bathroom toiletries were exquisite.

    Excellent services

    from

The staff are very helpful. We checked out at 4:00 am, before breakfast buffet available time, but they gave us packed food to take-away. The conciage and bell boyys are all polite and helpful. The hotel used the "Delux" taxi service and the cars are clean with helpful drivers.

    Excellent hotel in every way

    from

This was the first hotel we stayed at in Vietnam and we were most impressed. A good 5-star hotel in every respect. The staff were impeccably polite and attentive, the room was spacious and, as a previous reviewer has commented, there are even heated loo seats! The breakfast was the best I have ever seen anywere - the choice was phenominal. There were at least 10 varieties of danish pastries each morning. The pool isn't a bad size for a city centre hotel. We were at the back of the hotel and the view wasn't particularly inspiring. I imagine a river view would have been better but it is possible that there might then be traffic noise.

    Exceeded our expectations

    from

We were a little apprehensive after booking this hotel since at the time there were no reviews from trip advisor! We even considered swapping to another hotel, but we are glad we didn't! The hotel is great with friendly staff and even heated toilet seats! Food is excellent and breakfast is worth getting up for, even if you do have jet lag! We were in a room on a fairly high floor, which I would recommend as some people told us that on the lower floors you could hear traffic. However, hotel is recommended.

    Legend Hotel: Splendid efficiency

    from

I know it is more usual to write a post when you want to complain about something, but all I have to say about Legend Hotel is very good. When arriving, we could see the conceirge revising our taxi discretely to make sure we did not forget anything -I mean discretely, making his job efficiently, without trying to get our attention for a tip or something-. And that was a good example to describe the hotel. Quality and efficiency everywhere, everytime, beyond the expected. We stood several days first, then we went to other places of Vietnam and Cambodia and went back to Hanoi for our last night. I remember the smile we had when our taxi was arriving again to this hotel. We loved Saigon and this hotel.
