      ... was support underneath so if the wooden paling snapped we would not fall straight down into the swamp. Eventually we made it across to the other side then had to walk up someone's driveway to get to the main road and walk back to the hotel for a swim.

      The departure of the bus was scheduled for 8.15, which was actually perfect because we wanted to walk around Bandar the same day and proceed to Kota Kinabalu the next morning. There were only two buses daily; the second one usually departed at about 15.00.

      ... and no facilities for breakfast, or any meals. At least it was clean, and we were able to be in the same room. We moved into a hotel with suites, beautiful with all the bells and whistles. The staff there were amazing! They took us where ever we wanted to go. When we asked them about a place we wanted to visit, they would tell us about it, then offer to drive us there, and pick us up again, after we had finished.
