    After a quick final yoghurt fruit and honey for breakky, we headed to Parikia to board a fast ferry to Rafina (mainland Greece).




    The Sea Jet - funnily enough, this ship was built in FREMANTLE!

    The journey was supposed to take about 2.5 hours.... 4 hours later, ...

    ... scurrying into the safety of shop doorways. The laneways wind and zig zag and are seldom straight. We are told the theory behind this was to confuse and deter the Pirates. There are shops selling everything - clothes and jewellery being the predominant items, but plenty of cafes. All the buildings are white and i can't help wondering what the colour charts look like in the local paint and hardware stores. Window trims seem to be the only choice available ...

    ... the narrow winding lane ways of this Mediterranean gem. Even the flag stones appear to be laminated to protect them from the feet of the hundreds of tourists being shuttled in from the cruise ships anchored out in the bay.     When it was a city full of life the ruling government wanted greater control of what happened in the island so the declared it sacred and passed a law saying that no births or deaths were to occur on the island. When people were old or sick and close to death they had to go to the neighbouring island to die. ...

    ... and very easy to get lost in. Day or night these alleyways of white buildings are bursting at the seams with tourists. By the way, if you ever want to buy something white this has to be the place (in the entire world!). It's at least 95%2525 of their clothing selection here. Guess they haven't discovered the color palette yet? We enjoyed a really good meal at M-eating - barely snagged a seat - we've been pretty lucky ...
