Historical Traveler Reviews Lefka Apartments Chania

Wonderful hosts, so friendly and everything you need!

    from

My family really enjoyed staying at the Lefka. Evita and Andreas made us very welcome and we had lots of laughs at the poolside bar, chatting for hours. They love children and made ours very welcome. The apartments are very clean and have everything you need. Excellent location for Chania. Great swimming pool. We shall certainly go back!

    Perfect place to stay

    from

We were treated like royalty. First thing in the morning we would have our breakfast on the balcony overlooking the pool. We headed for the pool after that--sparkling and turquoise and well-maintained. We had a walk to town after that by crossing the road and walking a shorg distance via the beach to reach the Old Harbour--less than half an hour. If we chose we could bus into town--the stop is right beside the entrance to the Lefka Suites. We could shop at the open air local market for vegetables and fruit if we chose. This is not the market in the big building which is a daily attraction, but the local one where the people of Chania shop and which is held once or twice a week and is located on a closed-off street behind the Naval Museum. We shopped for staples at the supermrket located directly across the street from Lefka. Evita and Andreas were so good to us. They made reservations for us to hike the Samaria Gorge and to visit two beautiful spots by boat from Kissamos. Evita would drop by with beautiful Greek pastries and help us with our questions about local sights and activities. Andreas was our host at the pool bar and provided delicious fish dishes. We felt like part of the family as we would visit with them in the evenings. They took so much of their time to ensure that we were content--which we were..I cannot begin to tell all the reasons we would like to return to Lefka, but perhaps this review will give you the idea that we consider ourselves fortunate to have discovered the hospitality at Lefka Suites.

    The warmest of welcomes

    from

From arrival to departure you receive the friendliest of service from both Evita and Andreas the owners, and all of their staff. There cannot be better value for money accommodation to be had in the area. The rooms are furnished in typically Greek style and are very spacious and well equiped - inc extras not normally available in Greek self catering units, such as hair drier, alarm clock, coffee maker and toiletries!

The rooms are cleaned every day (except Sunday) and bed linen and towels changed every couple of days. The large and very well maintained pool area is surrounded by lovely gardens and to add to this the pool side taverna serves delicious authentic Greek food.

Blue flag beaches are 100mtrs away and the centre of Chania is easily reached by the bus that stops immediately outside.

    Greek friendlyness on it's best

    from

Lefka studios-apartments is a place you will love. The first time I was in Greece was in 1968. I never believed that it should be possible to find the same friendlyness and hospitability in a cretian city of today, but there I was wrong! In summer 2004 our family spent some days at Lefka studios-apartments before we left Chania and travelled to other parts of the island. Lefka studios was the best place we lived. We had a very nice appartement. Both we adults og our to sons had a really good time - not least because of Evita and Andreas who did always their best for us and their other guests. Greek friendlyness on it's best!

Well done! A very warm, friendly, relaxed, efficient and hospitable service was provided. We could not have asked for more!!

We loved the venue and the Andreas & Evita went out of their way to ensure we felt welcome. We are sure to return again!!

    Top notch

    from

We came back for the second time to Lefka last year and I can't recommend this place highly enough. Excellent food and accommodation coupled with amazing hospitality. Don't even consider going somewhere else if you are going to Crete!

    Wonderful place to stay

    from

Stayed here October 2003 for 4 days - wished it had been longer. Very handy for Chania centre and beach close by. Had the pool to ourselves. Owners very welcoming and helpful. We would recommend this place to anyone.

A stay at Lefka is sure to be near perfect

    from

During our three week stay in the Greek Islands, Lefka Apartments was our home away from home for the first five nights. We had booked it from Canada using their website. The location was perfect just outside Chania, and thankfully far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Platanias. (An area full of hotels and restaurants). The pool is big and beautiful, surrounded by trees and flowers and a small restaurant/ taverna. Noise is not an issue though. The aparments have all the amenities needed for a vacation and all come with a balcony with chairs and a table. We had two apartments at Lefka one at the front and one at the back. If noise is an issue I would recommend you request a unit at the back as there is some road noise in front. There is a well-stocked supermarket just around the corner and a five minute walk takes you to a very nice beach. Our hosts Amdreas and Evita were both friendly and helpful. We had a car during our stay and found Lefka Apartments to be a perfect location to explore this part of Creete. We do not hesitate to recommend Lefka apartments and hope to be back there again someday.

    Wonderful place ........great people......

We want this place to ourselves- stay away!

    from

We first went in June and liked the position of the hotel - just outside the bustle of Chania and across the road from a very pleasant secluded beach.

We were originally looking for property and it was easy to get to wherever we wanted from there but the owners are so nice we went back in August just for a holiday.

The pool surrounded by the hedge of flowers is lovely and there's a massive supermarket further down the road as are some nice restaurants.

Over all it's a quiet area {although it's near a main road}that's easy to get to every where from.

This is a small homely self catering appartment block where you're made to feel incredibly welcome but you can remain private and can do your own thing.

... there are still lots around. It may-be different in Athens and the situation could change but so far it’s business as normal.

It’s actually getting too hot here. 35 degrees and it feels every bit of it. I need to move north although I believe it’s hot in most of Europe at the moment so may not get any relief going there. Anyway, I’m stuck in Rethymno resting. Believe me though – I will cope with ...

Day 8 Kyle's birthday at Elofonisi beach

... goats, and sheep. As soon as Elofonisi came into view, we knew that the drive had been worth it. The beach has several inlets of turquoise water, set off by the white and pink sand. This part of the island can have very strong winds, so we headed to the more protected side of the beach and found ourselves some 3.5 euro lounge chairs under tiki style umbrellas. From there on, the day slipped lazily by as we alternated people watching, gazing out at e ...

... fantastic seafood. At the end of the meal we were given free desserts and shots of vodka, an interesting way to end lunch! Kyle and I wandered the alleys a bit more before joining Ally and Blair back at e hotel for a rest. Tonight we plan on watching the sunset from the rooftop hot tub before heading to a restaurant in the city's old Turkish bath. We are already regretting only giving ourselves 3 days on this incredible ...

    Chania and Samaria gorge

Moved a little further west – 60km- to Chania. Yet another Venetian port and another "old town". Once again a pretty old town with lots of narrow alleyways, cafes and tourist shops. But nice.

Went to visit the war museum one day but closed due to renovations. Then out to Souda Bay to have a look at the bay that General Freyberg thought he had to defend rather than the airport at Malame. And ...

    Samaria Gorge - Kramer Style

... Apparently we are either idiots or super human. To compound our insanity, we combined our hike with a drive up a gorge they had recommended as its own sightseeing tour. The drive was incredible with winding switchbacks through olive groves tinkling with the sounds of free range goats. Unexpectedly, small villages would emerge each sporting immaculate churches etched into the hillsides. By 11:30 we had arrived at the start of the hike (1250m elevation) and by 11:45 we were ...
