... Not wanting to wait another 45 mins we ploughed on. Gail opened her umbrella and with one hand on the brim so I could see round enough to negotiate the traffic and the other on the handlebar we 'sailed' home safely.

After a couple of days we went for a thai massage. I'd located a group of masseuses sitting by the roadside who invited me to partake their services without the nudge, nudge, wink, wink element eminating from so many other similar groups.<br ...
Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand paulngail... camp..so he went back to his apartment, Nicola was off to get a massage. The internet connection at the camp was down..so I decided to go to an internet cafe...My thought process was...hmm...which internet cafe do I want to go to?? Should I go to the one by the pharmacy..the connection is really fast there..but I seem to get bit a lot of mosquitos when I go there..or should I go to the one in the coffee shop..they make a good Iced latte..then on the way back..I can stop at ...
Phuket, Thailand lannyc... little difficult for some items as everything was written in Thai. Eventually went out to check out the bar scene of which there is certainly no shortage. Had a pizza in an obviously Scandinavian place which was not a very authentic start but nice all the same. The streets had certainly filled up by the time we walked home, so it seems we are in a central spot.
Patong, Phuket, Thailand russdi... for an animal that weighs more than most hybrid cars). Next, it was time for our elephant ride. We rode together with a guide. The fully grown elephants look twice as big in person (they are huge!), and when you climb onto their back all you're thinking about is how far down the ground is. The tour consisted of a one hour tour through the jungle on top of the elephant. This was by far ...
Phuket, Thailand mitchmich... a web just off the track, didn't get a picture of it as I was too busy pointing it out to Tom and Sai walked quite fast as it was downhill. Well anyway, it was horrible!! Made us both shiver!! When we got back to the hotel the weather has/had picked up quite a bit so we have both just had a couple of hours in the sun which was lovely and have booked to go on a half day trip tomorrow morning to go to a few of the islands near by to go and test ...
Phuket, Thailand fayentom... through whilst on holiday PLUS I want them both to do a Travel Journal each. We can only try...... Finally it's time and the kids are off for a swim with Rob and Dad in one of the 3 fantastic pools. I race around with Mum (I use the word "race" loosely - Mum is conscious of always walking in a fashionable manner), finding the best exchange rate for $A, $Brunei and $Singapore. We have a long walk around the block from the Hotel's beach entrance along ...
Patong, Phuket, Thailand tric1003... around the island, passing nice small villages on our way to Phuket famous beaches, stopping at amazing lookouts to see the wild jungle and the surrounding islands. We both agreed that was the best way to travel the island ! During our time in Phuket we got to meet some very friendly and nice Thai people, an antithesis to those in Bangkok... Especially in the hotel itself, everybody was amazing and by now, it feels like a family... On one of our motor-trips, we stopped for a ...
Phuket, Phuket, Thailand noayanivAfter waiting an hour to get through the customs line, we load our backpacks onto our backs (which we haven't really had to do on a regular basis in almost 2 months since we were living out of a car in NZ and Australia), and head outside into the heat and humidity of the night. Everything has changed! It's almost 8 p.m. and we maneuver our way into a taxi, showing the driver the address of a hostel I've scribbled down on a wrinkled piece of paper, and off we go, all the ...
Phuket, Thailand andersontravel... heading out to see the next morning. After arriving at the dive centre early we put our equipment together and head out to sea. After putting out gear on we roll backwards into the sea and descend to about 12m where we practice many more exercises before having a fun dive where our instructors lead us round the reef. We do a second dive that morning practicing more skills before heading back to the classroom. Day 3 we are back out at the reef for a ...
Patong, Thailand nickandbev... and maybe 200 sunbathers were on the beach. There were probably as many vendors as vacationers, and the trend was noticeable throughout the town. The tsunami caused the most damage in many parts of southwest Thailand by simply scaring away the tourists. They still flock to Thailand, but the areas that made headlines on CNN last December have been hard pressed to attract their fair share. This evening we ...
