Mark & Ave Maria

Somehow wherever I am on holiday I think about Mark. Perhaps it's because you notice couples holding hands on the beach or it's just part of the holiday romance ...

Never ever

... to report and this was at 19.15hrs but he was informed at 05.00hrs now you get your conclusion. I strongly believe that the raid was organized with somebody from the hotel and the thief's used a narcotic gas and a fake key to make the entry. My advice ...do not go in Greece especially in the place I m talking about you will have no security and nobody will care about you, the tourism agencies are selling just stories from the books in this case.
Respect
Big Time R&R

... you get out of the large centres. It is still not affordable, but we have little choice in the matter as that price is about as low as you can find here. Our first night we walked to Agia Pelagia which is 1.5 Km from us down hill. Everything here is either up hill or down hill and the hills are steep! We bought groceries for our kitchen and found the walk back up not too bad. for the first two ...

Crete - beaches, Knosses, and the Samarian Gorge

... no walls of defense, and may have been ruled by queens of the Minoan dynasty. There is a possibility that the "boys and girls" were sent as young couples to repopulate the palace and life was so good that they stayed. As it is an island, they were never heard from again and people developed a story about the Minotaur to explain why the people never returned.
Otherwise, we spent the rest ...

Yannis!

... title of Jamangie's favourite bar in the world. Upon entering it was like we never had left...........Yanni even knowingly nodded...and smilingly said something incomprehensible in Greek.......clearly approving our re_aquattaince.....which says a lot for how much Raki we must have drunk with him last time we were there five years previous. And so over the course of the next few ...

Thankful

Just finished reading Portraits by Cynthia Freeman. Makes me feel even more grateful for my family. I must be one of the luckiest girls around to have a family who love and support me.

Where to eat?

Went out to dinner last night. Nicky & Graham had given us a lovely card which us a great trip and £40! for us to spend so that we at least are able to go to dinner once - so that's what we did. We walked down to town. It's a pretty place build around teh bay with here and there a fisher's boat resting in the sea. Seeing all the restaurants we were afraid (well that's not really the right word but you know what I mean) of being hassled by every restaurand emplyee ...

It's hot!

... exhausted on our bed.

Being so very hot we changed into our bikinis and with our big bags of this and that -books, puzzles, Lonely Planet, paper, pen, iPod etc- we went down to the swimming pool. How come it's so difficult to find the courage to just into the pool?? Sitting on the edge with your legs dangling in the water is one thing, but to make the jump is quite another feet..

Holly
A tough start

... their the ticket man sells us the wrong tickets and we almost got the wrong bus! It was thanks to Eve's observance and a friendly Greek man that we found it out - he also helped us get the right tickets and bus.

The bus dropped us off right on the edge of a busy road in what looked like nomans land and pointed towards a road sign which said Agia Pelagia 2 km. So ...

Knossos Palace and more

... that had been sacrifieced as part of a Minoan worship. Totally worth seeing this musuem. We wandered through the markets in search of sustenance and settled on skanokoptia. We spent the afternoon sitting on our little balcony just soaking up the atmosphere before heading out for a quick bite and dessert of icecream and Loukamis (like donut holes) lathered in syrup, perfect way to end an evening.
