    After Denver (our halfway point- yeah!), we drove another long stretch of US highway (which included the first 8 miles of the interstate highway system constructed in the '50s) to Kansas City, KS.     ... so we leave quickly. So, back across the Missouri River, now into Nebraska (confusing, isn't it). In Nebraska City, again a sleepy little town, we find a cozy little pub to have some burgers.
    We need to speed up our trip, so we decide driving further North until late, crashing into a Days Inn in the Nebraska Capitol, Lincoln.

    Charleston, Old Charleston, is a wonderfully preserved and historically important city in South Carolina. Our friend Ian is a Charleston native and we could have had no better host for our visit. Ian knew the history of every building in the old town. Indeed, his own house had a wonderful history.
