... not at all as we had been assured in e-mails etc., and without further ado, we left the boat in the morning. Well we are old enough and sensible enough not to have to put up with discomfort and hardships for eight to ten weeks!
We discovered this was not the first time that Mike and Lola had experienced crew jumping ship. Mike asked us not to panic the others as he had found; 'once one leaves, they all leave'.
... again and riding a moped around. The price for the plane was even a little cheaper as I could fly Jetstar home from Bangkok. However, as much as I would love to go there, I am feeling so lazy to go on overnight buses and move around for another month. I would prefer to go there at another time and do it properly. Also every dog I see almost sends me to tears. I miss my dogs....So I practically spent 2 entire days in an internet cafe. Clicking back and forth ...

It’s still pouring down with rain, we take a short wander round the town and then decide to walk to the beach, which is about a mile away. We were quite wet by the time we get there, so we find a small café hut open right beside the beach with a few tables underneath some shelter, we sit there and have a couple of cups of coffee. It was fantastic sitting there by the sea; the waves are pretty rough today, we sit watching ...
Capo Ferrato, Sardinia, Italy travelmonsterThe place we are going to today is Pula and more specifically the ruins of the ancient city of Nora. This city enjoyed the status of being the main city on Sardinia, being utilised by the Phoenicians and the Romans – it was thought to be abandoned around the 7th Century. The sea has, over time, claimed parts of the old city, so some of the ruins lay under the sea today. The ruins that can be seen are fairly substantial ...
Nora, Sardinia, Italy travelmonsterBefore we came here I had read on the internet that the monastery was very hard to find, so I Google mapped it to see where it was – in doing so I saw how close we were to a beach and also noticed several other coves along the stretch of coastline – if we could get around a large piece of headland jutting out into the sea. We decided that we'd go walking today, so we packed up the remainder of our picnic from yesterday, wandered off and found our way to ...
Capo Carbonara, Sardinia, Italy travelmonster... me yesterday that I wouldn’t like – it was spaghetti with raw fish eggs on it.
We decided that it was too late to go anywhere else now, and when we came past the monastery earlier it was completely deserted. There is a very inviting pool to take a dip in, so we make ourselves at home there for a couple of hours, reading, writing and swimming. The price of eating out here is steep to say the very least, so early evening John suggests that we put together a few ...
... he’s happy and off he goes. A while later he returns with a dish of pasta, a tomato based sauce with bits of meat in it – fine, no problem, its really nice.
After eating we go in search of our accommodation – which is a converted monastery. I’ve really been looking forward to coming here and I wasn’t disappointed. We drop our bags and go and investigate the grounds. It’s peaceful and tranquil, exactly what we wanted.
... languages because there is no need.
The afternoon was spent with alas, another birthday surprise from the family, and a trip out to the rocky coast where we dived off of sharp rocks into the Sea. Diving in feet first, of course wearing appropriate protective foot gear, I took a taste of the super salty Mediterranean, and slipped on the algae covered rocks! Nothing big, “just a flesh wound”, nothing a little disinfectant couldn’t clean ...
... empty! After heading back for a few drinks on the deck we headed back into town for some dinner. We wandered around trying to find somewhere suitable without much luck, finally giving in and heading back down towards our hotel. Just around the corner we found a really nice little place which had a few people already inside. The owner pulled out a free welcome drink and then a shot of schnapps afterwards. 13th May - Villasimius Today we wandered around town for a ...
