Finally. The ocean. Corsica's beautiful northern turquoise abyss provided soothing balm to the soul. Tears were shed as we wandered into the ocean, creating solace amidst the chaos, bringing light to dark. I had mournfully ached for the ocean amidst those mountains for the past six months. I loved those peaks, I stared in awe every day at the ever changing vista from our living room ...

busy port, which is pumping with huge yachts and boats fresh from the Rivera…..good
to see once. We loved the west coast drive up to Porto, swimming as we
travelled and settling at a great camp spot by Porto, with access to beautiful
river for swimming. The red cliffs or Les Calanches are Piana have to be seen
to be believed. Filled us with awe.

... if you're sitting by the pool. Though we weren't usually out late at night, there didn't seem to be drunks around, they often drink at a cafe or bar in the late afternoon, but are happy to sit for quite a long time with only one or two drinks. The bread, especially the baguettes are tasty, much more so than at home, and are only bought and sold fresh, nobody seems to buy sliced bread, that lasts for a week. The girls in France all have good legs, John has surveyed ...
... if we just picked out a main dish. The seafood has been great, but it is an island, and we are right on the coast. However we didn't think much of the mussels, that everyone else seems to love. Tonight's dinner was again beautiful, and really more than we could eat. I had the fish soup. John had the Corsican salad, I had the salmon pasta, John, the chicken and sautéed potatoes, and we both had ice cream for dessert. In CALVI we are staying at Le Mariana ...
... we went to the beach, went to the shops and swam in the pool, all the usual holiday things. Then this afternoon we rode the bikes on a circuitous route up into the hills behind us, through the little villages that the 20th and 21 st centuries seem to have forgotten, and then round the back, and down into Bastia. It was an incredible uphill ride, until we saw a guy running the same route, as us, and passed us as we stopped to take photos ...
