    ... the
    olds cannot keep them maintained anymore. Sad really. During the Genoese
    occupation here, it was the wealthiest area of Corsica.

    Tomorrow evening, we take the boat to Toulon and when we
    wake, we will be in mainland Europe, ready for the next leg.

    ... was a little hotter than we anticipated, making riding and hiking a bit of a challenge. Now we're off to London for a bit of shopping and maybe to see some of the second test, then we'll be home before we know it. Like most holidays, when it's almost over, you just want to get home, and that's about where we're at, too. Although we have spoken to the family, FaceTime and Skype, we can't wait to see them. Little Gus will be so much bigger, Zig will be almost ready ...

    ... if we just picked out a main dish. The seafood has been great, but it is an island, and we are right on the coast. However we didn't think much of the mussels, that everyone else seems to love. Tonight's dinner was again beautiful, and really more than we could eat. I had the fish soup. John had the Corsican salad, I had the salmon pasta, John, the chicken and sautéed potatoes, and we both had ice cream for dessert. In CALVI we are staying at Le Mariana ...

    ... these old towns. The buildings have been there since the 1400's, even the new ones were built in the 1600's. There were little cafes, shops etc in little laneways and stairwells.
