... Foreign in its rhythm and still all too familiar.
A week spent snorkelling, idly swimming, lying on rocks that warmed our hearts, staring without intent at a horizon vacant of white caps, admiring the super highway of yachts, collecting rocks that were abandoned at the end of the day.

olds cannot keep them maintained anymore. Sad really. During the Genoese
occupation here, it was the wealthiest area of Corsica.
Tomorrow evening, we take the boat to Toulon and when we

... if you're sitting by the pool. Though we weren't usually out late at night, there didn't seem to be drunks around, they often drink at a cafe or bar in the late afternoon, but are happy to sit for quite a long time with only one or two drinks. The bread, especially the baguettes are tasty, much more so than at home, and are only bought and sold fresh, nobody seems to buy sliced bread, that lasts for a week. ... if we just picked out a main dish. The seafood has been great, but it is an island, and we are right on the coast. However we didn't think much of the mussels, that everyone else seems to love. Tonight's dinner was again beautiful, and really more than we could eat. I had the fish soup. John had the Corsican salad, I had the salmon pasta, John, the chicken and sautéed potatoes, and we both had ice cream for dessert. In CALVI we are staying at Le Mariana ...
... these old towns. The buildings have been there since the 1400's, even the new ones were built in the 1600's. There were little cafes, shops etc in little laneways and stairwells. We bought some supplies from the deli and had a beautiful picnic down at our little beach. The nights are lovely, although the days are a bit hot.
