    ... among other things a lavender bush and an agapatha patch which is just about to bloom. The garden also has a beautiful blooming white rhododendrum shrub. We have seen these plants everywhere and alot and in all colours. They are so iconic in this part of the world particularly in Mallorca and Corsica.

    So another case of I don't want to leave but on the other hand I'm keen to see Nice and get back to Italy which is one of our favourites.

    We had a short drive today—55 miles and 1 hours from L'Ile Rousse to Bastia. Our Garmin took us through the desert. It was interesting. We also drove through the wine region that produces the Patrimonio wine. We had to stop and tast (and buy one bottle) at a family run vineyard.

    ... each had a small sampling of gazpacho, pistachio cream over cous cous, some kind of custard and a lovely serving of caviar over some other fish roe. They were all delish, as were the cold beers. Eldon's concern is what this little tray of extras is going to cost us.

    We went back to the room and rested. Around 1:30 we got out our cheese and ham from yesterday and shared a bottle of wine.

    We left our hotel good time this morning and went into town for breakfast. We each got a pan au chocolate and walked across the street for our coffee and juice.

    The drive today was especially beautiful. The roads were curvy and really steep, but the mountain and rock formations reminded us both of Bryce Canyon and even Zion. There was very little traffic, so it was a relatively easy drive. We ...
