With a few hours to kill before the start of our trip home, we explored the Chamonix valley by local bus, getting off at villages that looked interesting.

That evening we took the shuttle bus to Geneva airport for the very long flights home. First stop was in Moscow for a 10 hour layover. Ugh. No place to sleep.

We had been watching paragliders soaring over Chamonix for seveal days and Brabara kept encouraging me to try it. I was a lttle nervous about it, but decided today would be the day.

We found the landing site, a big open field on the edge of town, and Barbara settled in there for the long wait until I would glide in. On the other side of …

A day to just relax and rest up.

Took the local bus (jammed with French schoolkids) the 5 min ride into Chamonix center. Lounged in the sun for much of day in the deck chairs outside the tourist office, explored more of the village and window shopped a little (but we could barely move our legs).

Grabbed a couple of burgers from …

We loved our room in Hotel Vert. Small, but opened to a balcony and there's Mont Blanc, big as life. The hotel seems to be staffed mostly by Brits so no language problems. It's a five minute bus ride to the village center of Chamonix and buses are free and stop in front of the hotel so it's very convenient.

Filled up our wallets with Euros …
