We loved our room in Hotel Vert. Small, but opened to a balcony and there's Mont Blanc, big as life. The hotel seems to be staffed mostly by Brits so no language problems. It's a five minute bus ride to the village center of Chamonix and buses are free and stop in front of the hotel so it's very convenient.
