Monte Carlo, an unbelievable place

... staff than patrons. Cost €10 to get in! The interior is like one of the palaces I’ve been too; plush seats; pull levers on the pokies. The tables are old-style with the croupiers using real rakes to literally rake the money in. Even the toilets are self-cleaning. The whole place is quite surreal. Not as big as I imagined, and I think it was quiet because u had to pay, whereas the casino at my hotel was always packed & free entry with ...

Nice was nice

... the most beautiful boats in the world are in MonteCarlo...

Language is more interesting in france. If we try to do the simple tourist things then most people can work out what is going on but when we try something else eg. going to the doctor (sue has been sick) going to a chemist.. or finding a Laundamatt.. then the language thiig is a bit more animated....

have some grat pics of Nice and French Rivierra to show when we get home...

I'm in Monte Carlo baby!

Well, I am writing this entry from Switzerland. Sitting at the Geneva airport. My flight from Barcelona to Geneva (to connect onto a flight to Nice) was delayed and then delayed again which meant I missed my connecting flight. Was originally angry about this cause I have lost a day of travel time, but it has given me the opportunity to sort some photos and begin my Monte Carlo relax period. Was fortunate that there was a later flight with seats available and that ...

Time well spent

... team and the stepfather placed 3rd. After the race we quickly checked out an amazing Roman Aqueduct as the sun set and then I did my best race car driver impression and headed for Lyon to rest up for a week of classes.

School:
Classes have begun to pick up. We basically have one class a day, from 8:30 to 12 and have the afternoon for personal and group work. We have two mini-semesters, 6 weeks long each and a 3 month long consulting project. I have ...

The most amazing cars ever

POLSKI:
Pociag do Monte Carlo, w obie strony, kosztowal mnie cale 5 Euro, a jazda trwala 15-20 minut. Widoki sliczne, ale najlepsza byla jednak Starowka Monte Carlo oraz samochody ...

Craps in Monte Carlo & My Craps Education

... play it took me awhile to catch on. But, once my math skills sped up enough to keep up with the game— then it all made sense. Then I too could see why the many sucker bets were so foolish and why you would always play the maximum amount on the Odds bet. Placing odds, aka free odds, is the ONLY, and I literally mean the ONLY bet in a casino where the payout amount and the probably of rolling the number are the exact same. This means that the house has ...

... Nice’s public beach (the south of France only has sandy beaches if it’s imported). I sat at the water's edge in Nice for about 5 minutes before moving away, using the excuse that the bags needed some looking after. Translation: the water was freezing. So I really swam in the Mediterranean for the first time in Monaco. After misjudging a wave, I also got my first taste of the Mediterranean in Monaco.

A playground for the rich and famous - Monaco!

... have a Ferrari we could use of course, but because we had just had that beer at the Café de Paris you understand, and headed across Monte Carlo. At just €1 per person per journey (or €3 for a tourist day ticket), the bus is a little bonus after the inflated prices elsewhere. With the steep climbs through the hilly principality as well, I ...

... and took a taxi to the boat which was in port and ready for our arrival around 2pm.  We were alittle sad to be leaving france. every single place we went the people were so friendly and accomodating.  our hotel people were amazing, taxi drivers, waiters and waitresses, everyone.
We checked in to the boat.  they give you a credit card looking card that they swipe when you get on/off the boat and it's your room key and can charge stuff on it.  we ...
