... so this was my chance.

With the help of 'Doris' our trusty sat nav and armed with my 'all the aires' book we found our aire on the outskirts of St Malo no problem at all........but we soon discovered that our 'open all year round' aire was closed!! Whilst we pondered what to do next and I got the 'that's another fine mess you've got us in to' look we were approached by a lovely old french monsieur who was ...

(Sun) Well I guess that our run of good weather had to end at some point and that was today. Just about managed to make it back from the boulangerie without our baguette and croissants getting too wet! Had a leisurely breakfast where we savoured every mouthful of our pepito (chocolate) croissants before heading out into the rain to stock up on groceries for the week. A more pleasant journey, we were able to appreciate the vast, hilly ...

... dry, so we packed up and set off for St Malo. In St Malo the wind strengthened enough to stop P &P in their tracks before they were blown over by the wind. Fortunately there was no damage. A bigger challenge was boarding where the side wind nearly pushed us off the ramp. But we're safely on now and waiting to set sail. Bon voyage et Bon nuit. Next blog from the ...

... the abbey's spire. All this set in the backdrop of the bay is pretty special.

We had a bit of time before we needed to get to our next destination as we knew the Airbnb host could not let us in until after work. We had not intended to visit the Normandy beaches, especially after all the reminders of war and killing during our time in Central and Eastern Europe, but in the end we made the trip to the D-Day beaches. This year is the ...
