... amount of respect for food and eating. I've definitely sensed some eye rolling/sighing/tutting at the undue haste with which we approach our meals. Chris has even caused a mild panic several times by getting impatient and doing the unthinkable and going up to the counter to pay!

... there was nowhere to turn around and cars were coming towards us. At one stage the side mirror of a passing van went over the top of my drivers side mirror while the passenger side mirror brushed the greenery on the other side. I like fun driving but even I had white knuckles by the time we finally stopped. I know we stopped because mum fell out of the car and kissed the ground. Mum and Nancy have a very strained relationship at the moment. The villa was exquisite ...

... thing about Menton is that since it is so close to the border, it is almost like two countries in one. You hear equal amounts of French and Italian being spoken in the streets, for example. It does have a reputation for being a bit of a sleep retirement community and the beaches are very, very rocky so maybe don't go there if you are hoping for discotheques and/or soft sandy beaches.

... our coach to pick us up when this old beat up Fiat that was seriously on it's last leg was driving around in circles near the Ferrari's and Lamborghini's while playing "La Cucaracha" over a loudspeaker. Everybody knew the tune no matter what country they were from as they laughed and cheered on the group of high school kids packed into this Chevy Aveo looking car. Good times so far! Next up ...

... with a 12$ can glass or champagne each thena three course dinner - a lot of the things on our plate even I couldn't decipher, but were tasty (ah) then bed time with really delightful french pillows and windows wide open :) next morning we did the oppposite of the hike down now wighed down even more with our shoppings to hop a bus to Marseilles then on to paris !!!!! ...
